Absolutely underwhelming Direct but understandable as we near the endgame with Switch 1.

Nothing really of interest for me there. Gradius Origins had me for a bit but no Gradius IV, V, Gaiden or ReBirth leaves the compilation lacking IMO.

Also...Sorry. Do not trust the idea of Virtual Game Cards one ****ing bit. Looks like Nintendo are trying to pave the way for a future free of physical software. I can absolutely ****ing smell it.

Direct is nearly done and, personally, this is definitely more a case of Nintendo airing everything out before the focus shifts. Considering it will take a while for the Switch 2 userbase to grow to a high enough level to be the sole focus, there's surprisingly little to show for Switch 1. Prime 4 looks nice and smooth, if somewhat old-gen but still no date and felt put in there just to hold some attention. There's nothing to suggest keeping people's attention on Switch 2 will prove difficult.

So Samus is the 'Chosen One' with mind-powers now and there's a 'Colossal Tree' at the centre of this mysterious world like Elden Ring and Zelda. Plus the space pirates have an extra set of arms so they're not space pirates. Sorry for the cynicism but I was really quite unimpressed by that. It was a **** Direct overall.

Best news: new Rhythm Tengoku, in 2026.

My kids are very excited about more Tomodachi Life. That game was a huge hit in my house.

I think Metroid looks great. Curious when we'll actually get it. Guessing it's quite a bit away or they would have told us.

I just got an email from Nintendo UK and they have 2025 listed for Metroid.

Patapon 1&2 (of all things) confirmed for Switch & PS5, and it looks like Europe is getting a physical version. Apparently 3 isn’t included as they recently released in PSN it and it doesn’t have native 4k assets, or something, still very annoying they didn’t go the extra yard and just wait a bit for a complete package.

It's cool that Everybody's Golf is coming back but it's a shame that it's not being developed by Clap Hanz. I'll be interested to see how it turns out though.

MP4 is definitely the systems swan song title. Presumably E3 season will see one or two remasters/remakes and then for 2026 they'll leave it to third parties to carry the system for however long it can hold on
