Yep, Prime 3 seemed to simplify things a little. Presumably part of why it isn't as fondly remembered but the motion controls helped a lot too. Hoping the dual analogue controls have the same benefit, should make Prime a faster paced game

I liked being able to lock-on to one target while being able to aim at others with the pointer. Does the remaster allow for gyro aiming?

Apparently there are 4 set ups to select from:

        • Dual Stick: Standard control scheme, using control sticks for movement and aiming.
        • Classic: “Play with controls based on the original Nintendo GameCube version.”
        • Pointer: Enables motion controls for camera movement and aiming, similar to Metroid Prime: Trilogy for Wii.
        • Hybrid: Combines the Classic control scheme with motion controls for aiming.

The pointer method will never be as accurate as on Wii though.

Yes, from what I’ve been reading that is the case.

Maybe not full-time. Pulsing in and out when required with the Pro Controller gyro (just like in Zelda) could be a good solution. It’s super-accurate with Zelda and Splatoon, but then needs recentering after each use.

So Prime Remastered doesn't actually allow you to use an actual GC controller via the controller adapter, then?

You can, according to the NL review (with some button remapping)

Sorry but can reviewers please stop referring to Retro as one of the most talented devs in the business, they had a HUGE amount of help with Prime1 from Nintendo japan and other studios, and everything else since has been good but not spectacular, I’ve seen this a few times recently and its nonsense.

They used to be though, back before that lead dev/wizard from Factor 5 died.

                        They really didn’t, and aren’t.

Sounds like their output isn't your cup of tea, which is fair. However every title of theirs has 85 or greater on metacritic (a few are even over 90), above 8 for user reviews and have all sold millions of copies, so I'd say it is absolutely fair to say that they deserve the praise they receive from gamers and VG journalists.

That is quite harsh. Yes, Nintendo had a huge hand in Metroid Prime (It's their own IP after all) but each projects success or failure is because of the people. In much the same way that each Nintendo game isn't a classic, I'm sure the makeup of Retro did contribute to the success of Metroid Prime.

One of the next Hamster Arcade Archive releases on February 24th is going to be Don Doko Don. Can’t wait for this. Another reason / excuse for me to not buy a mini egret 2.
