Super Mario RPG Remake looks nice, very similar to the original

This has been a load of absolute bobbins so far. I should have just carried on working.

As well as the above eventual Peach game
          Luigi's Mansion 2: Remake

I feel sick after that. It’s a good job TotK will keep me occupied for another year or so.

Is it me but Mario looks all wrong in that Mario Wonder game

Actually, that Super Mario Bros. Wonder might play out alright. To be honest a lot of it was reminding me of the new Sanic game, which is probably where the bad taste was coming from.

It's really tricky with Mario as you get used to just seeing him as he appears in the 3d games, where as the 2d platformers rely on you playing as a sqaut version of him like in the orginal games i think it looked pretty fun, enough new to feel fresh, some lovely looking animations, world design, and character styles. Mario RPG likewise looked pretty good too.

I like the look of Super Mario Wonder. That looks decent. It does feel like a tide-over game though, something to keep the Switch ticking over while the majority of development resources are devoted to Switch 2 launch software for next year.

I reckon you set yourself up for disappointment Dave.

These days, they all prefer to drip feed. There are no megaton announcement orgies any more. It was Nintendo that started it, even, with their regular Directs. It's the same for all three now that Sony and MS have followed suit. That drip feed of announcements over the course of the year inevitably leaves the formerly mega June announcements feeling somewhat lacklustre.

                    IMO anyway.

Also, Nintendo are very much keeping the Switch audience warm at this point. Now that TOTK is out the door I don't think we will see any further major releases on the platform.

So we're getting new Sonic and Mario 2D games soon.... What year is this again?

The difference there being that the Mario game is probably going to be at least very, very good.

I would have loved a Mania 2, but apparently Sega did a Sega with that one.

Happy to have Pikmin 1+2 on the Switch. Yes, I’m fairly easily pleased.

I'm alright with it, after diets of Fire Emblem and Pokémon updates these are regular enough bites.

I recognise the pattern from WiiU and 3DS eras though. The shift to lower budget affairs and remakes. Zero chance of Switch 2 in the next 12 months but it's clear Nintendo has an eye on it and is shifting to riding out the Switch's sales capability without committing a large budget title to it.

                            RIP Metroid Prime 4

They must be really confident with what they've done with Pikmin 4, because those two games are excellent and you wouldn't want your audience fatigued before the next big game.

See also the Metroid Prime Trilogy > Metroid Prime 4 scenario.
