Seems like it quickly became a lottery, curious as to why it slowed up for some.

Yeah a mate pinged me about that glitch but I tried to redeem for one month and it didn't go through... got an email later saying my order was cancelled.

I'm in Spain atm though using a VPN so that was probably my issue.

My order was cancelled too. (No Spain, no VPN.) I assume MS cottoned on, removed the purchase option, then cancelled unprocessed orders.

(I wonder if they'll do anything about all the orders that did go through. I hope not...but I would enjoy all the tears if they did!)

This is a good move... Gold has been pointless for a while and it's confusing for a lot of newcomers.

I see MS have also fixed the servers for all the old backwards compatible COD titles and Black Ops 1 had over 100,000 concurrent players this weekend?!

I thought that loophole had been fixed a while ago anyway.

I'm surprised it's taken this long - will depend on what those titles are and how often they are rotated, as to whether it'll be a better system. I think it's probably safe to assume they won't be day 1 launch titles.

You can still add gold to your Game pass but it converts at a 3-1 ratio so 12 months gold converts to 4 months of ultimate cd keys currently have gold for £34.99 so ultimate would be £8.50 a month and not £12.99 a month, Its not as good as it used to be which sucks.

Whats not great with the removal of gold is its another price hike, its £10 a month for essential or £60 a year. UK gold sub is currently £49.99 rrp but its regularly discounted to around £30 as its a pretty pointless service.

It's a decent enough base entry subscription but I think it's priced too close to the console option... there's $1 difference so I'm sure everyone would opt for that and not be restricted to just 25 main titles.

That said, with all of this everyone needs to understand how MS rewards works because then you can get a free sub every month

If you put the time in (i know a lot of people that don't) its a great way to get freebies.

I think they should of broke from the norm and just dropped the base model completely and made it free to play online it would differentiate them from the competition and make xbox the cheapest place to play games like COD and fifa for the masses, no doubt they still make a busload of cash from gold so this is why they didn't make it free.

I'll probably take advantage of the price conversion next month to top back up to a full 3yrs of GPU before it switches to doling out Core instead

It's getting harder to do as they've nerfed the monthly rewards to 500 points and also the Xbox console app isn't working at all for me any more so those bonus punchcard 2,000 point tasks are inaccessible, you can only get to them via the console app. Loads of people have issues with this, hence all the 1-star reviews, been like this for over a year and they haven't bothered fixing it (and I suspect that's intentional).

Yup I think someone at MS is tighten the purse strings, they have nerfed a lot of the rewards the 2000 point monthly ls now a 1000 point reward, the weekly treasure 500 points seems to have gone as have the free sweepstakes entry's. A lot of the other opportunity to get rewards via the app for playing certain games seem to be missing too. Adding this to the recent game-pass quest Nerf for Daily and weekly quests, getting 12,000 points a month is pretty time intensive now, they have also removed getting gamepass ultimate for points so you need to buy gift-cards to get it making it a lot more expensive.

I've seen a lot of people on the rewards Reddit getting banned but not realizing until they come to redeem, using a vpn seems to be the main problem so be super careful if you collect points on a work machine as you can fall foul of your works vpn systems. (theirs a glitch you can do with vpns where you switched locations to claim extra points form other continents) so i can see why their handing out bans.

Yeah I know there are some issues with the service, especially using a vpn, but generally even with the cutbacks it's easy to earn enough to cover a monthly subscription so it's still a viable option to share.

I remember in Australia the earnings per month were much lower so UK still has it pretty good.

Yeah you can get to the 18000 points each month but you need to do the tasks every day religiously and for some people its just far to much effort. I switch my PC on and boot up age of empires for the daily PC reward and i always do the Bing daily's which nets around 650 points a day just from two task, so even without the xbox being turned on you can get 18,000 points a month minimum.

i rarely do the 50 point achievement task as it normally means playing something just for the sake of it to get an achievement and for 50 points only it feels like a waste of time that only gives you 1500 every 30 days even if you do it religiously.
