Had same feels from my Super Wild Card back in the neon 90's.

Honestly reckon games like Lies of Pi I would have bought and coz I bought it, do more than sit in my piss with grump face coz a baddies one shot me 5 times in a row. I would have stuck at it. With gp and PS plus, I just flit out like a p****.

Going forward, I am just buying the games I want to play.
I do get the feeling of choice paralysis when looking through game pass but generally since I've realised I can't possibly play everything in my lifetime (in particular because kids and other distractions eat into my free time)... the way I use game pass now is for indie titles, or shorter titles I can mop up as a distraction mixed in with the big hitters.

I've completed so many titles on game pass that I wouldn't have normally given a second look... most recently little kitty, big city.

They're the sort of game I can dip into for 20-30mins, get some daily achievements rewards and finish over a week... move on, rinse and repeat.

Games like this I can think of include Vampire Survivors, Brotato, As Dusk Falls, Tunic etc...

But I've also finished bigger titles at the same time. Psychonauts 2, Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, Hellblade 2, Starfield etc...

I think it just really depends on how you consume media overall but I've kinda of adjusted to using the subscription to suit my lifestyle.

Considering the risk in bringing it back with the XBO they handled the game really well, it was a real mistake to not make KI4 for the current gen and to keep that fanbase ticking over nicely. Part of why Street Fighter, Tekken etc do so welll for so long is the good will amongst the fanbases that keep the IP and community in the news cycles for the years between releases and MS really missed that trick considering how cheap it would have been and how starved of content and good will they were over the years.

Rumour that this month Microsoft will tease the Xbox Handheld

Because they're awful at PR still

An Xbox handheld excites me, but I'm a bit worried that it will be more of a Portal thing that connects to Game Pass for game streaming only.

Definitely feels possible after the surprise smash of the Portal. I think it would be a tactical error though. The Portal could easily be bested feature-wise by a similar format which also allows local play - essentially what a Steam Deck already is, but in a streamlined version with less tinkering required.

I've been musing recently on whether consoles might eventually go primarily handheld. It would have been unthinkable a decade ago, when we were all coming to terms with the death of the portable console after the Vita's flameout and the rise and rise of smartphones. But with the power and low cost of mobile chipsets and the obvious appeal they have to consumers, I can't help but think that the traditional stationary console model might start to feel quite old hat.

There will always be more power available in a box that plugs into the wall than a dockable handheld, but if the dockable handheld offers 'good enough' graphics performance, I'm starting to think most will take that trade-off for the flexibility and portability benefits.

I will not trust my twitch competitive games with such a device. Imagine me on ranked Street Fighter 6. The round trip will mean the punch I just threw will land on my opponent's nose in approximately Street Fighter 8.

I mean there is no way it'll be that based on the fact that already exists in the logitech G cloud.

The Logitech G cloud was an expensive mistake, £330 for a budget android streaming device when a steam deck could be got for less and did more was a really idiotic move from logitech and microsoft.

Anyone could see that this thing was a relic of the past before it even came out, why microsoft partnered with them i’ll never know.

In other news microsoft all access the console and gamepass finance scheme has been dropped from UK retailer Game so is only available from 2 uk retailers now.

Is this more to do with GAME imploding or is it Microsoft? Honest question

Just saw they've stealth released Octopath Traveller II on game pass, plus re-added the original back into the service as well.

Edit: Callisto Protocol is coming as well

The trade in system going and the points system going was a cost cutting measure so they could unify all the till systems across house of Fraser sports direct and game. So this is also probably just another casualty of their cost cutting measures.

Gears of War 6 will reportedly remain Xbox and PC exclusive. Fable IV and South of Midnight may be on course for 2025 release dates and MS are said to be currently considering PS5 versions of:

                                -Senua's Saga: Hellblade II
                                -Doom: The Dark Ages
                                -Starfield
-Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition
                                -Age of Mythology
                                -Halo: Combat Evolved Remastered

The last one there is not a port of the MCC version but yet another updated version.
