If it turns out MS are going to throw their titles over they should get one of their bigger hitters done quick and milk the empty space, especially pre-GTA6. If they do bow out then seeing more day and date PC launches from Sony might be a thing too. Hell, even on the long odds some Switch 2 ports because at that point it's not like fans have a choice of they don't like it.
And studio cutbacks, lots of cutbacks
Of course, if you want to sell loads of games you have to make lots of them first. They also have to be pretty spectacular at the same time.
As for Sony, I think they might be caught in a Marvel-like rut, where they’ve saturated their offerings with third-person cinematic games. They review well and they do sell, but if it’s massive unparalleled growth they’re after they need to be doing a lot more with other genres.Last edited by dataDave; 15-02-2024, 03:51.

Would Sony ever put Helldivers 2 on Xbox though? Or even Switch 2? It is precisely the kind of game that needs that reach because I think the reality is starting to sink in that Steam + Console exclusivity still isn't enough...
As for what SIE discussed yesterday around multiplatform it got me thinking about what we will see on PC next. Horizon Forbidden West is obviously already warming up in the wings but you'd assume with no major releases on PS5 it would be smart to keep franchises in the limelight by releasing them on PC in that sparse gap.
Maybe we see Ghost of Tsushima in the Summer and then God of War Ragnarok hits for Christmas... that would be my guess anyway.

I just want them to tap into the good ol days of the not so triple A content, like that we'd see from (RIP) Japan Studios. Possibly Team Asobi are the guys, but we shouldn't have to rely on just these. I'm happy to see Helldivers 2 remind us that you don't need a story heavy open world. Love my PS5, but can't be pished with all the Last of Us games there are.

The absence of tentpoles this side of summer 2025 makes much more sense as to why they have a fairly heavy reliance on bought timed exclusives this year. I'm not expecting to see much pre-March 2026 either. We know Wolverine is being lined up for late 2025 but it's hard to imagine Sony putting another high budget game out in the April-Nov 2025 window when the almighty shadow of GTA6 looms then
