Yeah I used that last time but I remember it saying that it only works for ipod touch on 1.1.4 firmware.

I really avoid upgrading the firmware, or should I?

Hmm, does it matter what firmware if you're going to Jailbreak it anyway?

also i'm pretty sure if you click cancel when prompted with the message about erasing and syncing, it causes the ipod to be removed from the list on the left?

depending on how much music you have on the ipod, you could just open it in my computer, go to the folder options and enable viewing hidden files, then drag the music folder (it's inside the 'ipod control' folder) into itunes and it should copy the music to the laptop. if your itunes is set to copy music to the itunes folder and also organise, it'll name the music files properly
Thank you i'll try and tell you how it goes...

I've been hacking my iPod Video

It says iBil at the top instead of iPod, and I went through and changed random sentences and bits and bobs, including the startup picture.

Today I changed the background to this:

which involved a special hacked 1.2.1 fw (my iPod had 1.3 on it) which got me worried as when the iPod rebooted it said 0 songs in spite of showing 25gb being used. Popped it into iTunes and luckily it was just a database issue so after a half-minute or so rebuilding it the iPod is now working properly and didn't involve resyncing all the music!

It's addictive, and not too dangerous, considering (you can possibly brick the iPod, but most likely if you cock it up you just need to reboot in disk mode and restore the fw).

There's even a special fw that makes the video look like an ipod classic, although it's a bit naff to use

That 'iPod classic' firmware for iPod with video is actually not really much like the real iPod classic at all anyway...

not at all. basically it's just a background with a split down the side and it puts the album art there, and the fonts and graphics have been changed.

not to mention coverflow, but i didn't expect them to do that anyway.

oh and another thing, i uncapped the EU volume limit on the ipod. i dunno if it's made a difference cos i'm too scared to pump it full on the earphones anyway

OK, I slapped a few apps which all work great on my 32GB iPod Touch but I have a minor problem.

I noticed, whilst installing more additional apps on my touch, it said summat like it was running outta space and that I should delete some MP3's or videos yet I don't have any on.

Later, when I tried to put a 600mb vid it said summat about timing out and it doesn't go in on my ipod Touch.

I read on google it's summat to do with how the iPod Touch is partitioned - Any ideas peeps?

I bought my first album from Itunes on my Touch a couple of weeks ago. I went to listen to it today and it has disappeared...

If its a timed license of buying stuff on Itunes, they can GTF out. Im not using them again if thats the case.

No, its not a timed license with iTunes purchases, have you looked on your library on your computer to see if its there?
