Ok sorry if this has been answered, there is just too many pages on here!

I just downloaded PSP Video 9 to convert files. Now I just converted the PSP Video from the PSP Hardware review on this site, and the quality is . . awful! Can anybody tell me how to clean the image to get good quality as its all blurry!

If it helps the video res is at 480x160 and framerate 14.985fps. The bitrate is 640kbps.

Can anybody tell me good settings for good quality but won't take up HUGE amounts of room?

    Thanks!

EDIT: Update, I just read on IGN's guide that i should set the video at 640kbps and the audio at 128kbps. Now its saying its good quality but when i try to convert a file it says the reolution is too high! Why is this???

      Thanks..
Updated my JPN PSP to 1.5 last week and all my videos encoded at 368x208 still play just as before. All the .thm files show the preview pic fine too. Watched Infernal Affairs after I did the update

Thanks for the info sagages. I knew the video's would work. I just read
some had no preview .THM file appearing. Probably had wrong names or
        something. I'd miss them...

Hey plaver. You know those .THM files, they get created with .mp4 movie.
For the preview, in the movie menu browser...

Hi Cuber001. I don't use PSP video 9, but here's some general tips.

I wouldn't go with 15fps (well nearly 15fps) if great quailty is what your
looking for. Not saying it's not usefull. It's great for stuff you want to do
quickly that you'll only watch once or anime, t.v show etc. I'd stick to
29.97 though. For video 450-540kbs/sec is the best bet 450 works fine. I'd
only use high bit-rate if there's a lot of movement in the video. The best
resolution to use is 368x208, unless your source video isn't widescreen.
Then just stick to 320x240 Also, for sound 2 channel 64 is the better option
with 2 channel 32 not much of a reduction. Saving a bit more space...

If you want 3GP converter setting, here some...

The cable that you use to connect the psp to the pc, is it available in usb 1.1 and 2.0 variaties? Just curious as i picked up one cheap and is taking a while to transfer data from the pc to the psp.

                  Cheers

Hey Relic. Should be nothing to do with the cable ? Did you check your
USB ports are version 2.0 ? You can find the info in, system properties->
hardware -> device manager. Under Universal serial bus controllers....

If it's USB 1.1, it has BAM Universal Serial Controller.
If it's USB 2.0, it has USB2 Universal Serial Controller.

Windows, usually pops up a message if the device is USB2 on a USB1.1
port. Something like, "This device can perform faster if you connect it to
                    a USB2.0 port". Also...

USB2 should be about 30-40 secs for 100mbs.
USB1.1, would be about 4-5 minutes.....

                    Hope this helps...

Yeah i sorted it in the end, according to my mobo manual 2 of the headers on the motherboard are supposed to support usb 2.0 and my device manager backs this up. But no matter which port i connected the psp 2 it always poped up saying this device coulld run faster bla bla etc. In the end took the quick fix of buying a pci usb 2.0 card and it works fine now. Was pretty boring waiting 40+ mins for it to transfer a 450mb movie via usb 1 though Now just takes a few minutes.

                      Cheers though

Has anyone else managed to encode a UK PAL DVD without any sound sync issues?
If so.... how!? All other media is fine, but I reckon there must be something about PAL stuff at 25fps that the PSP doesn't like (the same videos play fine on my PC).
                          Is everyone else experiencing this?

Still can't get some files to play properly. DVD's are out of sync, Image Converter 2 sometimes doesn't work and the filesizes are a little high. PSP Video 9 doesn't let anything play but I haven't tried it again on 29.97 and 3GP won't let anything play either.

                                Hey zipper and lll_rOssco_lll.

As plaver said, Pal Dvds are fine. All you have to do. Is make sure the
sound when converting anything is in non-compressed PCM format. Before
you convert it into a .mp4 with any converter, be it 3GP, Image Converter
                                etc.
With vob(s) all you need to do is run the vob(s) through Flaskmpeg.
Converting the video to the usually Pal 25fps, but making sure the audio.
Get's converted to PCM. Then just convert with what you want...

                                Hope this helps
