    Another different question for you

I got Sky+ and what do I need for my PC to make PSP mpeg for recording. I got no TV input card or video software apart from quicktime.

Also Could I use XBOX DVD drive for my PC's DVD drive as my PC's DVD drive is knacked.

I suggest to the author of Xbox media centre to make a XBOX version of DVD -> MPEG for PSP automatically

      Hey Wonderboy,

My 1gb stick arrived today, so I've just started playing around with 3gp. Seems like you've done a lot of homework on the subject, so could you look at this and tell me if I've got it right. Basically, taking that you think 450kb/s is a good bitrate, I took your original transcoding script and altered the bitrate in it accordingly. Is it a good idea to have it encode at double the intended bitrate (i.e. 900kb/s) on the first pass?

I'm sure the mac version is same, if not better. Actually it was easier

embeded pics at 32x32, 64x64 or 120x120. Hope this helps...

        Good luck..
I wonder if anyone can help me... I'm looking to use this product to get album covers alongside my choons...
In XP, I have my music ripped via windows media player in 'My Music'. I can see the album covers as thumbnails on the folders, but cannot find any image to drag into Media Tagger when I try and tag the cover to a song... Are my thumbnails sourced off the web or something? I am trying to find them locally, but with no luck.

Well, I just encoded an episode of the new series of 24 using the settings above and it worked! Looks great to boot! The sound's a little on the quiet side, so I might try upping it a bit. The whole operation took around 40-45 mins I think, for an hour long episode (350mb divx file originally). Is that about right for 2 passes?

At the risk of exposing myself as a buffoon, is that last resolution in the code above meant to be 368x208 (rather than 368x280) daddy? I just want to check before i try your code out tonight!

Also how big was the final file? I have a 512mb card in the post and am wondering if i can get a few good 24 episodes on there...

              oops you're quite right!

Still, it turned out just fine The resulting file is 176mb in size. Not bad for 50+ minutes of top quality footage.

                Hey, daddyorchips.

Glad the setting helped you. The first bit-rate number 900. Can be
1200, 700, whatever you want, cause on the first pass. The encode in
3GP (xvid) uses a quant = 2, so it technically it kind of ignores the 900
as such. Using the best picture quaily as posible, while doing it's thing.
Still better to leave it a lot higher. Yeah, the sound on most video's
seems to vary a lot. Dvd's are the worst. Also, 40-45 mins seems really
good. Took me 25mins for a 25min anime episode. So, your doing good
speed. Another thing you can up the 450kbs/sec to say 540kbs/sec if
you have a lot of movement/action in a video. Shouldn't add to much.

Ledendary, i'm haven't got Sky+, so i'm not sure how to got about that.
What ouput has SKY+ box got on it. Like, can you play out to anything ?
I don't have an xbox, but i'm sure that the dvd-drive in there is no
different then any other pc-dvd drive. Anyone else, can confirm this ?
You really want DVD-> xvid, rather than mpeg (unless you mean mpeg4).
What outputs are there on a xbox ? Can you take files of through Lan or
did anyone see if it detected the PSP ?

zipper. I tried to rip a mp3 through WM10, i does ask to connect to
the net for more info. So your probably right, it takes the covers of there.
There's usually a pic in each folder, called folder or something to create
that folder thumbnail. Do they display when not connceted to the net ?
If so then there somewhere, try a search for, *.jpg less than 50kbs on C:\
If nothing comes up. They might already be embebed ? If still no luck just
go to amazon or somthing and have a quick search for album covers. Also,
in media tagger, when you do find some pics. Remember to click the save
icon on top the toolbar, when at the pic screen. Or it won't save it to it.
I'd still use iTunes, seems easier for this. It's just right-click - get info
                -artwork...

                Good luck..

Thanks Wonderboy - there's definately no pictures in the folders, but i'll do a scan on the HD to make sure they're not lurking. Thanks for the advice - all of it has been very useful :-D

Hi all - incase anyone else needs to know...
If you keep your music in 'My Music' in XP, the folder.jpg files ARE there in the folders, you have to goto 'tools', 'folder options', 'view' and uncheck 'Hide protected operating system files'

Why these are deemed operating system files, i don't know!

Yeah, thought so. WinXp, well Microsoft seems to think, the user should
be keep away from most files. Glad you found them zipper, saves looking
                        round the net, eh...

Hey guys, wonder if anyone could help me with my problem.

Up until recently I have been doing all my video encoding in work, mainly because they sit on a fat internet connection where I can download all my anime, anyway I had no problems using 3G. I have tried running 3G from my home computer, but it seems a bit hit and miss. It will convert the file fine most of the time, however when I run the file in quicktime just to check it converted ok I get an error after about 5 seconds, I also get the same error if I try to move the timeline slider. On top of the above, I also sometimes have problems converting a movie in 3G (no matter what its original format, xvid, divx etc) whenever the file is about to finish converting it will crash giving me an error, also if i try to 'abort' the conversion to get a partial file it also gives me the same error.

Im thinking its codec realted, but I installed the gortian knot codec pack after uninstalling all my codecs, and its still giving me the same grief! I have also tried reinstalling quicktime but no help!

                          anyone got any ideas?

Uninstall and reinstall QT selecting 'authoring' in the custom setup. That's usually the cause.

Thanks for the help, gave it a go but im still getting the same problems!

On completing the encoding, or on clicking the abort button I get the following memory error:

                                QT3GPPFlatten.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x66bf7edf" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".

Actualy on further inspection it only seems to be a problem with xvid stuff now :S Any ideas?
