Get the TV and use your unwanted stuff as part of trade in toward XBOX 360.

I am sure you can save up 200 pounds from now to November.

OK another theoretical question from possible the most technically inept person on this forum - would a 1280x720 resolution screen display Xbox 360 at 720p through RGB or S-Video????

No, you need high-band (not to be confused with low-band) component video minimum.

Right, thanks for that. I've also heard that 360 won't be using DVI or HDMI cables - wish MS would confirm it, cos it could save me a lot of money!

I have been put off the Samsung after hearing of the tearing problems, so i hope this LG set can cut it. I dont really want to spend over ?1000 if i can get away with it. Ill pop down to my local Comet this weekend to give it the once over.

OK, I was looking at this TV:

                  http://www.samsung.com/au/products/t...?page=Features

Is it any good? It does not have DVI port but HDMI. Is that bad?

                  Or how about this?

                  http://www.samsung.com/au/products/t...?page=Features

Which one would I go for. And it is primarily for next gen consoles?

And what is this problem with Samsung tvs?

HDMI is fine mate. I believe its the new standard on HD tv's, and DVI is the older connection. You will be wanting HDMI for the ps3 and upscaling DVD players.

As for the Samsung problem, its not all Samsung tv's. Just this model (LE26R41BD). However, not everyone has had the tearing problem. It seems to be hit or miss from what i understand. I just know with my luck ill end up with a ****** one.

You should be able to run DVI through a DVI to HDMI adaptor; the UK manual for the equivalent model mentions how to wire up audio when you're doing so.

Another vote for the 26" Samsung. Its a beauty for the price. And for me? no tearing.

Is there any bigger LCD from Samsung after 32 inch ? Coming soon. How do we know what is coming out in next few months. I mean we will know when a game or DVD come out roughly from play.com or amazon or games web site.

I would like to buy a 37 inch HD Ready Samsung LCD TV with 1080p for example.

The problem with the bigger LCD panels at this point is the lack of uniformity with the backlighting, which in turn changes the colour across the screen. The new sony qualia 005 that everyone was hoping would be the new king still suffers from this, and as it is a big screen the blacks can look very green.
At the moment 37" is still very much plasma territory if you want the best, and is still cheaper too.
