Once again, back to the question of viewing distance. I sit 6-8ft away from my screen, so will I have to go for the 26" one or will the 32" be okay? I dont want to buy it and find out that it's just too big and for the smallness of my room.
I'm in EXACTLY the same situation as you. I'm gonna buy a car soon, and wanna buy this TV too. I guess I'll have to charter into unknown territory and get a job.

Strangely enough, I was thinking the same thing about the viewing distance. I've heard 'twice the screen size' so for a 26" aim for 52" viewing distance. I have a similar viewing distance, and I'll be going for the 26". It'll be a bit cheaper too .

p.s. books and food can wait

You want twice the screen size for HD feeds, at least three times the screen size for SD/ED feeds.

huh? So your saying for SD you should be further away than HD?

If its twice the size for HD though then thats only 64" which is just over 5ft which I can easily manage, so if thats the case, I'll deffo get the 32".

@ themanwithapc. Thats quite funny, both the same. But I HAVE a job already! Lazy bass!! :P

I've got a panny 42 pv500 and it does have a dead pixel. It's about 5 cms from the left side and is completely unnoticable from normal viewing distance; even when the screen is white. Its a real struggle to even locate it when up close and viewing a normal telly picture, I don't know if this is common on plasma's.

The telly itself is the business and i can highly recommend it. I'm runnin my cube and ps2 thru component and progressive scan looks mint.

My Dabs order is saying they will have my Samsung in stock in 5-7 days...then I should get it 2-3 days after that. Whohoo!

I decided to opt for the freeview LE32R41BD instead. It's a little bit more expensive (?895 including delivery from webelectricals.co.uk) but at least I'm guarenteed to receive it on Monday. Whoo!

Have any of you new buyers had the tearing problem when displaying 720P at 60Hz?

There's a cable and CD Samsung will send you to fix the problem, however mine and one other persons on avforums just won't update so mine being taken away to sort it out soon.

I was noticing slight tearing every so often even in 480p but I got the cable and updated mine this morning and haven't seen it since

I've not had it (yet) on my 26" Rome although I've mainly been watching DVDs in 720p on a DVI->HDMI cable - is it limited to a certain type of connection?

For future reference, how do I contact Samsung if the tearing issue surfaces as I've only used component 720p on Amped 2 for an hour or two.

just ring the customer support line on the website. it only happens through component apparently. Its worth ringing up and lying just to get it updated

With the XBox, your best going with Component cables (Advanced HD Pack). Patching your XBox to NTSC will let you use Prog. Scan and HD modes too.

As for DVD Player, depends what your player supports. For best quality, you'd be wise to spend ?130 or so on an upscaling DVD Player like the Oppo OPDV971H and connecting it through DVI.
But for a normal player... Component or RGB Scart.
