Thanks for the confirmation Lyris. VGA should be fine, trying not to get worked up over HDCP, since if ICT won't be enforced until 2010 or whatever, I'm sure I'll have a 1080p screen by then.
I'm sure we will also be able to right click "KillHDCP.DLL" and click "Install" by then as well

      Hah would make things easier!

Oh, the LG 32LC2D is a no-go, will NOT accept anything over 1024x768 from a PC over ANY input.
      Bizzare, their cheaper 32LX2R does.

Focus is moved back to the Sony, though I'd like a backup choice just in case my local Comet does not have it. If I can confirm the Sharp LC32GA9E supports it, then good to go, as that has 2X HDMI ^_^

EDIT - oh wait, it's the 37LC2D that does not support 1360x768. Now need to find 32" specific info.

Seriously mate, consider the Samsung N series. The Sony S series is the previous generation Samsung panel I believe, the Sony V series (I think) has the newer Samsung panel.

I'll look into 'em mate! Can't see one that that price range on the Comet page though.

Right now I'm split between Sony 32V2000 and Toshiba 37WL66Z. The Sony has won a few tests and the pictures of it in this very topic looks very promising. However the Toshiba has also got good feedback from buyers on the Norwegian AV-forum. I know the Sony only has 1 HDMI, but I'll manage. Both are around the same price-wise but is the Sony worth it, being 32" versus the Toshiba 37"? Any input is appreciated.

Am I right in saying the SONY KDL-32S2010 only supports Component through the VGA port (using an adaptor), so I cannot have a PC and a Component device hooked up at the same time?

As far as I'm aware Phillips have the best picture quality especially in SD. To be honest with you its best to buy a dedicated magazine like What TV & Video, Home Cinema etc.

I'm gonna take my 360 w/ VGA and Component so I can give it a whirl in the various resolutions.

To be honest, I might just get the 32LX2R, since I'm please with the 26LX2R and I know what it's capable of in terms of resolutions through the inputs.

The S/V (and possibly N?) all use exactly the same panel, the only difference is the backlight. (and I prefer the non-WCG-CCFL S series)

I've just Sold my old faithful Samsung and I want a 32incher for less than ?700, I'm currently looking at the Toshiba 32WLT66.

                      Any ideas or alternatives?

It's very good, especially for the price. It's not going to be the best LCD (and you shouldn't expect that for the cost) but it's very, very, good when set up properly. I think it's an absolute bargain for a ?700 LCD to produce an image this good

I've read that it has a few issues connecting things via VGA, as that is how I prefer to connect my 360 I'm not sure..

Do you have the set? How does it look with 360 component?

You are taunting me... oh the shame of it

Yes I do have it - I have the 32WL66, which is the same set but without freeview

It does have problems with VGA. tbh the VGA input is useless so I just left it alone. It accepts up to 1024x768 and displays that perfectly - very crisp and clear. It was the first thing I tried (my laptop) and I thought it if looked that good, then 1360x768 would look superb. I was so wrong

Anything above 1024x768 or any 16:9 resolution and it all goes wrong. It won't even display 1280x720, for example. For some odd reason it will display 1360x768 but the damn thing is out of alignment. It chops off about 2" of the image and zooms in to fill the rest of the screen. Useless for my 360 and useless for my PC unless I don't want a start menu

It sounds serious but I don't really care because my 360 over component looks fantastic. No matter how much I tried to improve it via VGA, it still looked better over component. There's definite edge enhancement with it set to component, and you will see it if you look for it, but it's so minor that you won't notice it when you're sat in your seat.

The other problem is the poor viewing angles. It's fine for me since I sit directly in front, but this TV has a dreadful viewing angle. It's still watchable at any kind of angle but you definitely notice a drop in contrast and image quality once you move off-centre

Ignore this post, just checked the pics of the rear of the set on the Comet page, definately separate Component and VGA ports! Some mistake in the What Video/TV review.

Given the aforementioned Sharp does not support higher than 1024x768 over VGA, the Sony is the clear winner. I will have to live with 1 HDMI, no biggie.

Anyone with first hand experience with it here?
