The Television channel looks wonderful on your last picture, but don't you still find the sharp lines in 480p inferior to 480i RGB on a CRT?
Games are certainly playable now, and the lack of scanlines and clarity of the image on 480p is great, but there's a sharpness about that progressive scan resolution (evident on that Katamari shot) which would be lessened on moving to my 28" 4:3. That's partly why I've kept it, because of the upscale scenario.
All of those shots are just bog standard RGB 480i on my Tv.

I'll try and find the exact review, but it's been said Twilight Princess looks inferior to Resident Evil 4 technically, and that it suffers the same problem current gen 480p games do. You'd have thought Nintendo would use the Wii to make liberal use of AA and try and get rid of some of the near distant jagged lines considering the console is said to be twice as powerful as the 'Cube.

Isn't there only so far you can improve the image anyway by adding AA? Nintendo may have decided that the difference is marginal for such a large performance hit.
Also peoples expectations of what games look like has been risen by the HD goodness of the 360, I find it quite painful to play 480p games now, let alone 480p games that don't come close in terms of visual fidelity to that of the next gen.Last edited by EvilBoris; 22-11-2006, 22:13.

Aye, that was because 16:9 wasn't true 16:9, it was zoomed. RE4 on a CRT looks outstanding and ahead of its time so it doesn't surprise me when I read Twilight Princess doesn't quite match it.

I'm happy with what I've got due to the colour system, processing, options and 1:1 pixel mapping over VGA. By all accounts the Toshibas (WLT66/68 ) are said to be a very good systems (3 HDMI ports is nothing to be sniffed at).

I ask cos i've found 480p horrible on LCD TV's in the past and am curious to see what the WLT68 is like with it!
Thanks in advance!
PSO:
Metroid Prime:
These were just using the same settings as my 360, I didn't bother to adjust them at all. They appear sharper than the photos, and aliasing isn't nearly as apparent.
And a slightly dark one of Kameo I forgot to post earlier:
