Please ignore that review. People who don't measure colour scientifically (and appear to not understand the process of doing so) shouldn't really be commenting about how well a TV reproduces it due to the subjectivity involved. "The low in brightness" comment is probably in relation to LCD TVs set up in eye-scorching "Dynamic" mode (I wish I was kidding).

I've seen data from a reliable source which indicates after setup, the X10 Panasonics are pretty good colour-wise, but not outstanding.

Also, the native resolution is not 720p (1280x720), but 1024x768. So, scaling still goes on - not 1:1.

Don't worry too much about the resolution. It's not the most important aspect of quality. Contrast/Dynamic range is much more important, so the X10 is a good choice in this price range.

Thanks for the feedback Lyris. Yes I think I'm gonna take the plunge and buy the bugger. :-)

With regard to the resolution I was going by the Panny website not the review.

Have a look, they claim that it is 737,280 (1,024 x 720) pixels. Is it an error?

Strange, good question - I wouldn't worry either way though.

^ Do that. £150 is a steal for the new NeoPDP panel, the warranty, and higher resolution.

            Edit: doh, sold out

I would've gone for it but I don't know if they ship to Cyprus.. -_- Plus my viewing distance from the TV is about 1.8 to 2 metres. Don't want it to be TOO big..

Come to think of it.. will 37 inches still be too much for that distance??

I'm hoping it won't be cos I REALLY want a plasma
              ..

The thing will psychologically shrink within the first week. I wouldn't personally own anything smaller than 46" for TV usage now. And yes, for games, I sit as close as you.

I stripped my front room down last night because we're having a new carpet fitted, damn the thing looks so small in there by itself. Next time I'm not settling for anything under 100".

My Samsung LCD that I use as my monitor (Model LE26R41BD) has developed an issue. I have spoken to a registered Samsung repairer and they reckon I need a new PCB board for £150 + £95 labour not sure if its worth fixing at that price.

Anyone either know of a cheap reliable repairer or know of any good cheap deals on a replacement?

I'm looking at getting the 42" Panasonic V10 in the new year, is this still the best set for the money? Also how come the amazon link says 'Installation Recommended'?

Yes it is. Turn it on, select THX Mode, and you have a very, very nice out of the box picture.

No idea what Amazon mean. I recommend installing the TV as well, it's no fun leaving it in the box.

hi guys i am looking to get a tv after xmas hopefully in the sales. i will be using it for ps3, 360 and wii. i will not really be using it for much tv watching.

looking to spend around £500-£600 and as big as possible but must be good quality for the consoles.

currently have a toshiba regza which is excellent but is 32"

                          any recommendations

Noticed that a lot of the Panasonic TVs have Freesat built in, however can you plug a normal ariel in and get freeview through a standard ariel (if its avaible in your area obviously)?

On another note, how easy is it to setup Freesat using a sky dish? I already have normal sky (no hd or sky+), so how would I go about using the same dish but have one signal going to my sky box and another to the freesat tv?

Yes. Samsung LE40B550. I'm not going to link to the review I did on AVForums out of respect for NTSC-UK (I think I've posted enough links there lately!) but you can go and find it if you want it.

It's a very good display for a very good price (Costco had them for 450ish, but they go up to 550ish).

Yes. They have terrestrial antenna and satellie inputs, both separate. You can ignore Freesat if you want.

The are broadcast from the same satellite. Simply plug the dish in and go.

If you want to use two decoders from the one satellite dish, you will need a dual LNB on the dish and two separate cables coming from it, one to each decoder.
