Using the VGA-DVI splitter, can I connect an Oppo DVD player or any other DVI source into the DVI-D socket?

And whats the difference between DVI-I and DVI-D?

DVI-I - Digital and Analogue (VGA)
        DVI-D - Digital only.

The port on the LG TV is DVI-I, which means it has the pins for both Digital (DVI-D) and Analogue (VGA, or DVI-A) connections.
The DVI-VGA splitter basically splits up these pins into 2 separate ports - DVI-D and VGA.

So yeah, you can hook an Oppo or whatever into the DVI on the splitter, cause that's what I do :P

Thanks mate. Thought I'd have to resort to swapping if I want to use DVI.

And you see that VGA switcher you had (the one that looks like something from the 80s ), is there any quality loss when using it?

Not to my vision anyway. I reckon as long as you use decent cables, it'll work fine. The cables are the main thing, I've had some nasty lossy cables in my time.

How do I clean LCD Screen as I noticed fingerprint in the corner. ?

My LCD came with a special cloth (like the PSP/DS screen wipes). So screenwipes should be fine.

what will this be like for other consoles apart from 360 such as my gamecube and ps2 using rgb. i have a 360 which is the main reason for wanting to upgrade my tv,

                        please let me know

                        cheers

I have that Tv and I love it.
It has freeview and standard tv built in, teletext all the connections that you'd ever need.

The 360 looks lovely on it, as with all the LCD TVs the picture for the cube and PS2 is not as nice looking when you use RGB as it would be on a standard CRT tv.

If you are using US/JPN cube games you can use the component cable and get a lovely picture.

Is a more expensive HDMI cable like this one http://www.play.com/play247.asp?pa=s...C&title=610861 worth the money. Currently using my Sammy HD950 DVD player through HDMI connected with the cable which was supplied with the player. Not really blown away by the picture atm though, which seems to suffer from more digital noise (think that is what it is) than I expected. Just wondering if an upgrade in cable will make much of a difference, or if the noise is just something I have to put up with playing SD DVD on this HD LCD !

I'm starting to wonder if the noise is caused by the LCD though, as I've even noticed it on a couple of HD vids downloaded and played through the 360

Just got a modded VGA cable for the GameCube today. I'll post further impressions later on when I've had time to play with it, but I have found this -

THE LG SUPPORTS 480i THROUGH VGA o.o

Seriously. I'm playing interlaced games on my GameCube via VGA. I can't think of another screen in this price range that can do this...
This is awesome, means the VGA cable really becomes the ultimate connection method.

You shouldn't get noise through a digital cable like HDMI or DVI, you'd only get corruption on screen if it was a naff Cable.

I take it you have the digitalNR turned on?
