    I think.
DVI will prob be just fine.

ps still no TV 37 days passed since ordering.
HDMI supports more formats, such as YUV and RGB at more than 8-bit... but HDCP-compliant DVI should be fine. I don't know of any device that does now have an 8-bit RGB output.

Just tried out the DC on my LG using RGB. Didnt realise the quality of RGB was this good!

Might not buy a VGA adapter for it now - although is there a lot of difference in quality between VGA and RGB?

Definately go VGA., RGB does look good on the LG, but the VGA blows it away.
I have seen no clearer picture quality on the screen than Dreamcast VGA.

Is the superior quality of RGB on the LG (rather than the samsung) a result of a superiour internal scaler?

I now a lot of people have bought external scalers to display SD content on their Samsungs.

One of the main reasons i when with the LG (still no sign) is i didn't what SD to look 'lacking' even though i won't use it that much. You still would want ur tv too look its best no matter what connection u were using.

Bit of a latecomer to this thread, I've been reading the last 30 pages or so, but was wondering if you could give me some advice please as I'm starting to get overwhelmed with the amount of info and terms I'm seeing. I've been reading about instances of burn-in with plasma and that's kind of put me off them a bit.

So, I'm looking for an HD LCD screen to replace my 32" widescreen Sony set.

My budget is up to ?1500 but will go a couple of hundred pound higher if it will get me something significantly better.

Primary use will be Sky (hopefully with HD if it ever gets released), watching DVDs and obviously my 360.

In normal use I'll be about 6-7 foot from the screen, the other sofa in the room is probably 10-12 feet away. I'm just mentioning this because it seems to be mentioned that the quality between 32 & 37 LCDs differs greatly depending on viewing distance?

I'd like something that isn't short on connectors which primarily means HD connectors for Sky & the 360 as well as Scarts for DVD & Sky as it is.

Can anyone recommend a couple of sets as my head is starting to hurt with all the different links I've looked at so far!

            Thanks in advance,

            Mike.

most people here think the Samsungs are a little lacking, especially when viewing Standard Definition content.

I'm sure someone here with more know how will give you a more in depth answer.
              But this is a start.

Like you I had a 32" CRT, and I recently bought a Toshiba 37WLT58 for just over ?1500 from Dabs. It comes with a stand, has a freeview tuner and my experiences with it have been great. I'm no TV expert, but I'm fairly picky about my equipment, and I've had no problems at all with it. I did my research trawling through the LCD forum on AV forums, and came to the conclusion that for ?1500 it was great value for money. I haven't been disapointed with it either.

As for connectors, it has 3 SCART (2 are RGB), 2 HDMI, VGA, component and s-video.

I run an upscaling DVD player (the Oppo one) through HDMI (with a socket spare for a shiny new PS3 when available), Xbox 360 through component (you could use VGA if you like), and old consoles through RGB.

I find that for the 360 a viewing distance of 6-7 foot from the screen is great. That is about where I sit. SD won't look awful at that distance, but you might find that your other sofa (10-12 feet away) is better for SD content.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that, from a personal point of view, I'd recommend going for 37". It will just seem like more of an upgrade (which mattered to my other half from a justification point of view).

6 foot away and I wouldn't recommend more than 26". Anything bigger would be pointless and straining on the eyes.

                    Guys,

Been considering gettinga 32" lcd for ages, had ordered the sammy 32 but the expected delivery time was changed to end of march!

Ive now noticed the Panasonic 32LXD500 and I was just wondering if anyones got one of these and what their thoughts are? I saw it running in currys last nite on a SD feed and I was very impressed, especially as it was sitting right next to the sammy.

The 32LXD500 is very nice, but how much can you find one for? Prices seem to vary enormously on it. It's nicer than the 32" Tosh mentioned above, but not that much nicer, so if it's back up to ?1500 for the 32" again, then I'd say not to bother.

End of March is clearly too long a wait for you, otherwise I'd suggest holding off for the 60 and 600 sets that come out soon to replace the current 52 and 500.

HMm yeah i found it for about ?1400 but it just looked so much better taht i was thinkging what the hell, what does the 600 do that the 500 doesnt?

Arrived on the 9th. Went with electricshop because they had good reviews on kelkoo, cost about ?40 more than the cheapest site but at least I've not been given the run around for weeks.

It's the LG26LX2R (not obvious from the link) and I'm impressed with it. I went for this model because it had everything Edge recommended (E157, page 75), apart from 1080p and VGA, and it fitted my budget.

Anything good 32" wise for upto ?800? Seen the Sammy on Play, but my 26" Sammy is pretty poor.

                            Cheers.

I have the same TV and it does accept a VGA source through the DVI socket

Nice to see you got yours I'm STILL waiting for mine 42 days since ordering from emipre direct. You may ask why I'm bothering with Empire? I really don't know why. it was 599 when ordering it and i'll still get it at that price. I must be a right ****ing idiot to be willing to wait this long.
