The Shiny panels should only really be used if they are going to apply some kind of Anti reflection finish to the front which would technically be better as then the light isn't being diffused through the matt finish, although how much difference that diffusion makes is probably negligible.

- blacks. Oooooh blacks. The LG really fails here.
- just a nice panel in general
That ticks ALL of the boxes you need..ticking. And it's cheap.

Great price for a plasma... but plasmas give me headaches, like CRTs
It has to be an LCD, as that's the only display technology that doesn't hurt me
This has become even more timely as the VGA port just crapped out on our LG, forcing us to use component for the 360, which this TV just isn't that good at. The 40S3000 looks to be the one for us, so now I just need payday to happen!

It's definitely set up properly - our TV just gives a murkier picture through component than VGA, no matter how what the settings. At least with the thing through component we can play JSRF on it
I'll check out the plasma - one of the department stores is bound to have one - but to be honest I'm not sure if I could replicate the effect in a shop. Something about plasma's "glow" gives me a headache after prolonged use in a home environment, and I don't want to take up a bargain that may become a headache! In a manner of speaking.

Im looking for a new TV at the moment and am torn between the Panasonic TH-42PX70ED which is a Plasma, and the Sharp LC42XD1E which is a 1080p LCD.
At the moment I've got a cheap, but not nasty 32" LCD which is great for gaming, but I've been given the go ahead from my other half to pick up something bigger.
Im swaying towards the Panny, but Im worried about image retention on the plasma, especially when I can sit and have 5-6 hour gaming sessions on my days off.
Anyone using either of those TV's? Can you recommend them for me?

The panasonic is mean't to be one of the very best sets about, someone has posted a link to it for an obscenely cheap price a few posts back. Most plasma's have things to reduce the likelyhood of retention, I guess if you are really worried you could buy an extended warranty that covers screen burn.

Hey, I'm looking to buy a TV, just wondering what you guys think of this model: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139601
Or if anyone could suggest a decent 30-40inch HDTV around £400-600, that'd be great. Cheers.
