To be honest its hard for people to get excited about PS3 launch even the people who paid the huge money for it cause at the end of it all to me personally it was a **** launch, don?t get me wrong great potential in the console of course but **** games to put in the bugger, as with most console launches in past though to be fair.
Only Resistance, Ridge 7 dare I say Genji 2 are providing enjoyment for most people.
Also is it just me or is it hard to find even one first play of a retail game in the first play thread? Wii already has 3 in there PS3 has a motorstorm DEMO first play, jesus that is exciting!
I know DC Charlie put a Gundam one in the PS3 launch thread which was good to read even if it was a crap game, it?s still an impression from someone who owns/played on it and there is some in the Resistance topic but none in first play.
I personally have been avoiding these PS3 threads like the plague not because of the arguments of supposedly trolling comments, it?s simply because deep down im just not bothered about the PS3 at the moment.

Theres a lack of first play threads because people are worried about trollers or general negative comments.

Now, I would understand this if these people actually made the game themselves. In that instance, taking a fairly defensive attitude would be understandable. But for some bizzarre reason, people are taking anti ps3 comments personally, which is strange to say the least.

Hopefully someone can englighten us all and post some first play threads, because I for one will find them a useful resource. People just need to chill, get over whatever fanboy stance they have and get rid of all these negative vibes ****ing up this place lately.

I think people are just embarrased by it, its kinda like spending ?1000 on the latest Video disc format , when the only disc availible for launch is the first series of the Chuckle Brothers. Sure it might be "good old fashioned slapstick caberet comedy" but deep down inside there wasn't any reason to buy it and your inner geek has been lured in by the temptation of a new toy and you've been condemned you to wait a year until you can make good use of it. The potential might be there, but waiting for potential is no fun.

There's certainly a need to want to justify such an expensive purchase - but really, the people they have justify it to is themselves. Perhaps there are a number of people who are genuinely happy with the money they spent.

I hope so Marty. To be honest if my current circumstances were different I would have already got a Japanese unit, purely out of curiosity and safe in the knowledge that all my fav franchises will be appearing sooner or later.

I was just hoping some of these genuinely happy people would share more than just their ****ing UPS tracking number with the forum.

yep, I wanna hear the honest truth about the console, whether it is good or bad.
I'd be tempted to have the machine, just to have one, were it not essentially a high financial risk (given the companies track history of launch unit reliability and the troubles others have experienced in importing more recent machines).

Its a machine for the future, as is the 360.

Ive bought a PS3 totally for its potential, and my faith in titles such as FinalFantasy13, Half Life 2, Gran Turismo HD, DMC4 etc.

Im afraid i cant give you my opinion though as Im going on holiday soon, so its gone under the tree till Xmas.

well i've had zero errors while playing games and stuff i.e no disk errors and ****. (well nor has my chipped PS2 of 4 years) it seems well built. The online part isn't as good as Live - but it has potential + also a web browser. Seems the Wifi signal is weak compared to the 360 wireless adaptor. The one major problem i had and a few other people were when using online with certain routers. Linksys ones seem to be the main culprit., but since then i've got a Netgear one and it works perfectly. i do miss the rumble on the Pad.. but its not the end of the world.

One question for the owners out there, despite the HDD size, is there any reason to go for a 60 over a 20? I've got a wireless router, but always prefer to go wired myself.

Did you not consider purchasing one when one of those games was released? If not then what reasons pursuaded you to get one now?

P.s. this isn't meant to be rude or aggressive

well, i imagine if you had to have wi-fi, you're planning on downloading lots of demos, installing linux or want a shiny chrome front then the 60 is best.

                            I'll be getting a 20gig personally.

Is it just me, or does the forum no longer have a first impressions thread for new hardware? In the past, I loved checking out impressions from early adaptors during the PSP/DS and even 360 launches, but this time around things seem a lot more 'scattered'.....

                                Agreed.

C'mon PS3 owners, we want threads with detailed impressions about the hardware, software and everything else PS3 related.

We've got bored of reading threads containing UPS tracking numbers!
