Reasons to own a PS3, game wise?

I actually can't wait until I get my PS3. Looking forward to playing the 4/5 games I'm looking forward to. Too bad these couldn't have been any closer to launch.

That's probably a good thing as wanting something I can't afford hasn't happened since my last Neo sesh.

At least there are downloadable demos. If you play ridge, resistance and d/l the motorstorm demo you won't feel short changed.

A little unfair to compare the online functions as MS have had the longest to nail this.

Since Sony have been in the console marketplace longer, and had online functionality at pretty much the same time on PS2 as the Xbox did, they've had more than enough time, really.

Ridge Racer 7 and Resistance: Fall of Man are both excellent games. I also have Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, which while obviously not exactly radically different from it's 360 counterpart, looks a little cleaner and makes some intriguing use of the SIXAXIS. The MotorStorm demo is also a bit special.

Sure, there's no Halo, but I'm still enjoying mine.

I dont see how the actual substance of his post is trolling though. If he just simply said PS3 sucks and you should buy a 360 instead then fair enough but his post reponded to points made by a previous poster. Isnt that how a discussion forum works? I might be in a thread titled 'Reasons to own a PS3' but if someone posts something that I dont agree with shouldnt I repsond? Wouldnt the thread be better for it?

As many other people have said maybe now is not the right time to own a PS3 because all i would want to play is RR7. But if i had ?500 and could get one for this i would buy one. Remember tho people here have spent as much money on something far less competent than PS3. My PS2 cost me ?500 for example but i'm not complaining now. I am going to wait until VF5 and a few other games have come out before ownin a PS3. I'm not really that bothered about online as good as X-Box Live was on my X-Box this was not enough to make me buy a 360. It's all about the games imo the games i want to play for the most part will be on PS3, there are games i want on other machines but i can only afford one machine as last gen was ridiculous with a PS2, GC and X-Box.

I think you should wait Seany you know what to expect from PS3 as well updated PS2 games and some other nice games on top. Wait for the price to drop theres more than enough to play at the mo. Zelda: TP, FFXII, GoW etc the list goes on.

same with me. i dont see any launch games that are very exciting in my opinion.

its like the ps2. i didnt pick one up straight away as there were no appealing games to me.

i waited until i got the bouncer (which was ****e anyway) and then grabbed one.

ps3 tho, all the games that even look enticing on the ps3 right now are on the 360

I think, at the end of the day, the majority of the big jrpgs will be on ps3 only, so that, in itself, is a reason to pick up a ps3 (further down the road though)

PS2 was definitely the console of choice for RPGs this last generation ( and Rogue Galaxy still to come ) - some juicey adventures will ensure a purchase from me.

I dont understand why discussions like this always have to get so heated. At the end of the day, its a games console folks, lets not forget that. Like EvilBoris has mentioned, the majority of the ps3 owners are understandably touchy and hyping the machine up, simply because theyve paid so much for it.

Whilst lack of games is an understandable reason for not grabbing one, I can honestly say the only thing currently stopping me from checking out on NCSX is the pricetag.

We know there will be great games, and the thrill of buying new hardware cant be beaten. Even if the game library doesnt change over the coming months, if the price gets dropped plenty of peeps like me will be jumping on the bandwagon Im sure.
