Reasons to own a PS3, game wise?

I agree with Sho that there is lots coming out, however alot of it will be 360 as well and the rest isnt gonna be out for a long time.

Eventually most of us will own a PS3 but i think thats the point, as far as i can tell for at least the next year i can see nothing worth spending so much on.

I guess Yoshimax's main gripe is that there seems to be little in the way of a genuine unclouded views of the console. Clearly the current owners have spent alot of money of the machine and have perhaps convinced themselves that their purchase is justified.

I think after all that rambling what I'm trying to get at is that, people who owned the console are understandably excited about the new console and are influencing others in what I and I'm sure many others would consider to be a slightly false way. I'm sure I'd be doing the same had I just bought a console for a grand.

Fair enough, buy the machine and enjoy your purchase, but please don't sit there and tell me that Motorstorm is a triple A game worth an ?800 outlay to play, you are doing others a disservice. Had the launch lineup been released on another console it would of been slated for it's lack of japanese support and had the games come out in 2 years time you could predict that none of the current owners would of even considered purchasing the titles.

I for one really want something about the PS3 to stand out and say buy me!! I haven't played on it yet but nothing I have read or seen currently justifys me stumping up the cash. I have been reading this thread hoping to hear something fantastic from one of you guys/girls who already have one but nothing so far, I too have seen motorstorm running but i think its akin to perfect dark everyone wanted to play that when the 360 was released and people were raving about it, however at the end of the day its pretty naff.

Whats this golf game like??? How much better is Ridge 7 to Ridge 6??

Nobody is deleting negative comments - posts that are deliberately trolling and disrupting threads that have no place are removed - and this will continue to be the case.

There is no need to post when someone has bought a PS3 in a PS3 news thread, "You wasted your money, you should have bought an Xbox360 instead" - it's neither helpful or needed.

Anyone who posts similarly can expect their posts to be removed.

Any importers so desparate to buy a PS3 at these over inflated prices will probobly already own a 360. Its natural for people to draw comparisons between the 2 machines, the 360 and more importantly the 360's online services have set the benchmark for the others to follow.

What the genuine gamers on these boards want is detailed impressions of the games, controllers, online services, friends lists, all the stuff they have gotten used to with having the 360!

Most of those on the boards who have already got thier machines are posting nothing more than ive got one its great.....or have suddenly just appeared on the boards claiming to have one or ordered one but cant post anything to substantiate their claims. It gets a annoying as thats not what i thought this place was about.

It hasn't officially been announced yet (apart from job ad listings) but the next-gen Wipeout will be a serious reason for me to contemplate the PS3 before November of next year. That is if it's released before then.

Now that the red mist has cleared from the Lik Sang episode, I'm quite tempted to import a Japanese or American PS3. I keep putting stuff in shopping baskets to check the price, but haven't ever checked out yet

For me there's nothing amazing to push me over the edge right now (at the current prices at least). If the price has dropped a bit when Virtua Fighter 5 comes out, I might take the plunge then, and Metal Gear Solid 4 will definitely push me over the edge when that comes out!

To me, Ridge Racer 7 and Resistance: Fall of Man look like solid, if unspectacular launch titles.

Now, I certainly wouldn?t pay the inflated prices that the console is going for but it?s looking likely that my brother will be going to the states and, depending on stock levels, may be able to get me a 60Gb model for the RRP. That seems a decent price to me.

I certainly wouldn?t be considering one if that wasn?t an option though.

Very true, my Japanese Xbox 360 was delivered on 22nd Dec last year. I was in big kid mode that day! Even having to write the cheque for the import duty didn't dampen my spirits

I actually can't wait until I get my PS3. Looking forward to playing the 4/5 games I'm looking forward to. Too bad these couldn't have been any closer to launch.

That's probably a good thing as wanting something I can't afford hasn't happened since my last Neo sesh.
