I don't think the PS3 will be the machine for shmups and fighters, mainly because they can be done on the PS2 still (with the exception of VF5 of course).

      How's the online side ?
What are the current games like ?
      How is the pad ?
Does it really look like a foremans grill sitting on your tv stand ?
Is tilt as gimmicky and tacked on as it seems ?

All the things I consider very important are just ignored and you're labelled a friggin' troll for pointing it out.

Vent over - I'll leave now
Nobody is avoiding the questions, and there's nothing wrong with asking them. You were labelled a troll and hence had posts deleted because you were telling people they should have spent their money on an Xbox360 instead of a PS3 and LCD TV - that's trolling - and such post will be removed from threads, whoever posts them. Please learn the difference.

This is also totally off topic - the OP was asking "Reasons to own a PS3, game wise?"

If you want to know the answers to your questions, why don't you just start a thread on it? I'll even give you a decent thread title to help "Questions I have about the PS3".

Atm, I don't think there's much around game wise to justify the cost of the unit, especially if you have an Xbox360 already, but this will certainly change over the next 6-12 months. The fact that you can run Linux on the machine to open up a world of emulation and homebrew also bodes well for the machine ( and has surprised me that Sony made the system so open ).

Ok, so weve cleared up that there are some sports games on the 360. Dont get me wrong, i love my 360, but there are still many reasons to get a ps3.

        Final Fantasy XIII
        Unreal Tournament
        Metal Gear Solid
        Timesplitters
        Devil May Cry 4
        Killzone PS3
        Motorstorm
        Tekken
        Indiana Jones
        Linux - Oh the possibilities...

I guess if you only like arcade games, then you could make do with a Wii, but for others, the PS3 still has a hell of a lot to offer. I'm sure there is lots ive missed out.

          Not exclusives

(just guessing with TS it hasn't been announced yet and Free radicals last 3 games were multiplatform)

^^^ Indeed, but still reasons to buy a PS3 if he doesnt have a 360.

              Not so sure about that.

I?ve already heard murmourings of some games not being ported to PS2 as the developers feel the hardware isn?t up to what they want to achieve. Fingers crossed the PS3 will be able to offer that extra grunt.

Especially if it means a port of Espgaluda II

I think RIGHT NOW there are very few reasons for having a PS3.

We don't really know how the online side will stand up.

Personally I'd hold fire for a good 12 months.

i would say for me the only game worth getting a ps3 for is ridge racer if you like it.

otherwise i'd wait. but personally ridge is one of my fav game series.

I would like a PS3 but as others have said i will wait 12months to see whats going to happen with the system.

Is the price of a PS3 at the moment worth it, thats how im seeing it.

Most games will be ported from the 360 as it has better support so im not so sure if i would ever buy one.

I would like to know how the online is as i only play games online and thats why i have a xbox 360.

There doesnt seem to be many exclusives on the PS3 anymore like the PS2 so i would wait mate and see.

I would wait until spring before making a decision.

It doesn't seem like there's much reason to own a PS3 as of this point today. The exclusive games are so-so (aside from Resistance which is solid but not amazing) and the multi region games seem very rushed on the PS3. The system is crying out for some firmware updates to sort out some of the issues/ommissions.

So why pay over the odds for one now? The decent games will start around March, the firmware will probably be much better then and it'll be the time of the UK launch. By then we'll know if there is any disadvantage with owning a UK machine (hopefully not) and it will undoubtedly be much cheaper.

Buying a PS3 today based mostly on the expectation of what is to come later just seems daft imo. Enjoy whatever you've got now (the PS2 has some excellent games at the moment) and wait until March.

@seany1979: i would have to say at the moment theres nothing really worth getting the ps3 for, even tho iv got one waiting for me at parcelforce depot

i would just say to wait till march as that seems to be when most of the games are gonna start rolling in and by then you will be getting better deals on imports

I tried that to find out about 50/60 hz but it seems to me that nobody (dare I say Sony included) knows the answers......

Motorstorm is starting to look a wee bit better than i remember seeing it on here a few months ago, that might be a good starter

DMC and FFXIII will no doubt be superb but theyre a bit away

TBH I cant help but feel that Sony rushed the hardware out without getting a decent launch line up ready.

Oh and resistence fall of man still looks the business im massively intrigued by it but I doubt it would be 500 quid of intrige lol

I'll be buying a Japanese unit in January I hope, after prices have reached something resembling the RRP. I have been extremely tempted to buy one this week, and get overwhelming bouts of console launch madness every now and again. Ridge racer is enough for me to mess my pants, resistance looks respectable and Motorstorm could be mental.

But Seany, try to resist buying one at the moment. Think of the satisfaction you'll get if you buy one early next year, paying half the current price, more games to choose from and an updated firmware.

Thankfully Ive got my final year of Uni keeping me busy at the mo (still buying a Wii though, which could be a big mistake).
