    How's the online side ?
What are the current games like ?
    How is the pad ?
Does it really look like a foremans grill sitting on your tv stand ?
Is tilt as gimmicky and tacked on as it seems ?

All the things I consider very important are just ignored and you're labelled a friggin' troll for pointing it out.

Vent over - I'll leave now
    I'll answer your questions since I HAVE a PS3.

    1. The online shows a lot of potential. I haven't experienced any problems in multiplayer games such as RR7 and Resistance. The online store is very nice and easy to use and download speeds are extremely fast. I find downloading content from the PS Network MUCH faster than downloading content from Xbox Live. It took me around 10 mins to download a 900+Meg demo and just over 5 mins to download a 400+Meg demo.
    2. The current games are very good being launch games. Motorstorm will impress all the naysayers especially fanboys.
    3. The pad is nice and feels similar to the Dualshock 2 controller. Nothing fancy but does the job.
    4. No. It looks like a sexy piece of high tech kit!
    5. No games use the tilt functionality to its maximum potential, BUT the potential is there.

Oh, and for your information, I can't think of any FPS's which run at 60 FPS with no screen tearing or slowdown, so enlighten me. Resistance runs at a steady 30 FPS, no slowdown whatsoever, with tons of stuff going on in the background. No problems online either even with 40 players playing together!

Resistance isn't a reason to get the console, it's a poor man's Call of Duty

Can't help feeling you're skirting those Q's to an extent there Venom this ain't politics

          1. Online - Can I invite cross game ? Can I check received invites to see what game they're to/who they're from whilst within a game or do I need to quit back to the XMB ?

          Cross-Game chat ?

Easy messaging from within games or no matter what you're doing by pushing the guide button (you know the one in the middle of the pad that looks like an effort to mimic the 360 one) to bring up your menus.

          2. I'm surprised you haven't posted in the first plays as you're obviously impressed.

          3. How do you charge the pads ? Is it batteries ? Can you buy a play & charge similar to the 360 ? I heard you have to buy a seperate USB cable or something ? Isn't the extreme lightness and lack of rumble an issue ? How are the shoulders heard that your fingers could slip off them easily ? Any improvement to the sticks resistance ?

          4. OK

          5. As much as people argue that a racer should always be 60fps (I think you fall into this camp) I would argue that on a next gen machine there's no excuse for locking an FPS to 30fps. Give me a little bit of tearing and 60fps over 30 anyday (COD2).

Hey - I'll buy one eventually when it costs something reasonable and we see how BR pans out and (hopefully) there's something good enough to warrant it I just get the impression people are creating a lot of false-positives around the thing.

I've played it and wasn't blown away. It looked decent and ran pretty smoothly but just felt like it didn't do anything new and the PlayStation controller still isn't great for FPS. The sticks still have that weird floaty feeling and it's hard not to feel disconnected from an FPS without rumble. Not to mention that the AI seemed very dull compared to better stuff out there, constantly standing there while you plough bullets into them.

The 8.5 scores seem pretty fair to me - good, but not spectacular. I'd bet that if it wasn't essentially carrying the hopes of the launch it wouldn't get anywhere near as much credit as it does.

For me online is a non reason
as i dont have and cannot get broadband where i live
it will be soley on the games and nothing else. For me the wii looks more exciting as its a different way to play games

Will get a ps3 eventually as soon as it becomes more established (and cheaper)

That's because you weren't specific enough in your questions. Hopefully my answers to your questions will stop you trolling as it seems you have nothing useful to contribute in this thread. Mods, I'll let you decide...

                Anyway, to answer your questions...

                1. At the moment no. You can't invite cross game. You have to go back to the XMB to check invites and to see what other people are doing.
                2. That's because I don't want trolls like you, with so much negativity towards the PS3 and nothing useful to offer bringing the thread off-topic.
                3. You charge the pads via the USB cable (supplied with the console) which by the way charges MUCH faster than the 360's Play and Charge kit. The batteries are internal and cannot be removed.
Regarding the lack of rumble, I was concerned at first, but after playing games like DMC4 (demo) and Resistance, the lack of rumble doesn't seem to be that much of an issue. Play DMC4 with the correct set up and you'll see what I mean. I'm not too fond of the new shoulder buttons and prefer the older ones on the Dualshock 2. Haven't noticed any improvement to the stick's resistance.
                5. You thought wrong. I don't think all racers should be 60 FPS. Some of the best racing games run at 30 FPS ala Test Drive and PGR3. Does COD2 run at 60 FPS, though? Are you sure? Resistance does not run at 60 FPS because the developers wanted to focus on the amount of stuff that occurs in the background and also to increase multiplayer support whilst keeping the gameplay smooth. They didn't say that the PS3 couldn't handle an FPS running at 60 FPS.

Glad I'm not the only one that's noticed this, there seems to be so many new faces around here since the PS3 was launched, reminds me of the great Edge invasion of when ever that was Think it's a shame that serious contributors to the board are being singled out as trolls, while unknowns just continue to post random PS3 questions without giving anything back. Thats not pointed at the thread starter btw.

Why is it people feel the need to offer their opinion on a console they don't own? I find this very strange. It's like a film critic reviewing a film without actually watching it. His points are worthless and based or heresay etc...

If people don't like the PS3 so be it, but please don't shove this in my face.

I opened this thread to read about PS3 games that people are actually playing but instead all I see is fanboy drivel.

                    Rant over.

Mate, I know exactly how you feel. It's most annoying, isn't it!?
It's this kind of behaviour that stops people starting any PS3 1st Play Threads. Anyway, if you need any other PS3 info just drop me a PM. I'd be glad to help out.

Of course. And I thought it was naff. Motorstorm isn't out, doesn't look that fun to me either. No online play either, so complete no go for me.

Only the Japanese one, mate. US/PAL one will be online enabled though.

March will be the month to own one, IMO anyway. 'Specially if Virtua Fighter 5, Virtua Tennis 3 (on 360 too!), Lair and Motor Storm are your bag.

Ok, that's your opinion and I respect it. At least you've played it unlike some other people...
I thought the same about Motorstorm at first, until I played it... I'm hooked on the demo!

Venom, just start some first play threads anyway & don't worry about conflicting opinions. I'd like to know more about the launch games (especially the golf game which nobody seems to have mentioned).

Also, it would provide a wonderful break from all the 'what stepdown do I need' & 'I ordered a console 10 minutes ago & it's not here yet' posts that are in abundance at the mo
