Hopefully, in the next week or so fella, I'm a hardware whore myself. No excuses.

That, and the Blu-ray functionality and Ridge 7 proving to be too hard to resist. Really fancy some Crank, MI:3 and Superman Returns on Blu-ray over Christmas.

Thing is, I've retired my US PS2 collection and my rickety PS2 too, so I can still play my shmups - upscaled - with any luck.

its also very Quite... infact its shockingly quite even when playing games. I haven't tried any Bly-Ray movies yet to see if its the same. It does give of heat like a radiator tho LOL.

Is it just me, or does the forum no longer have a first impressions thread for new hardware? In the past, I loved checking out impressions from early adaptors during the PSP/DS and even 360 launches, but this time around things seem a lot more 'scattered'.....

We thought a whole forum to the PS3 might make it easier to find all the info. Nothing to stop anyone creating a PS3 first play thread though.

I dont understand why discussions like this always have to get so heated. At the end of the day, its a games console folks, lets not forget that. Like EvilBoris has mentioned, the majority of the ps3 owners are understandably touchy and hyping the machine up, simply because theyve paid so much for it.

Whilst lack of games is an understandable reason for not grabbing one, I can honestly say the only thing currently stopping me from checking out on NCSX is the pricetag.

We know there will be great games, and the thrill of buying new hardware cant be beaten. Even if the game library doesnt change over the coming months, if the price gets dropped plenty of peeps like me will be jumping on the bandwagon Im sure.

I paid the JPN retail price for a PS3 unit together with a 4 year guarantee (A bargain IMO). I'm not hyping the machine up because of the price I paid, but because I'm genuinely happy with it. I don't really like talking negatively about games or things in general. I love games and that's why I sound excited when talking about them.

I think people are just embarrased by it, its kinda like spending ?1000 on the latest Video disc format , when the only disc availible for launch is the first series of the Chuckle Brothers. Sure it might be "good old fashioned slapstick caberet comedy" but deep down inside there wasn't any reason to buy it and your inner geek has been lured in by the temptation of a new toy and you've been condemned you to wait a year until you can make good use of it. The potential might be there, but waiting for potential is no fun.

I only created this topic to find out whether there were any games upcoming that suited my personal tastes, to decide whether or not to splash out some spare cash I have on its way on one of these new PS3s. As it goes, there isn't anything on the immediate horizon, so I am going to spend my sponds on something else, most definately not a 360. If there was anything on there I fancied, then I would have already bought one of them. As it goes, it seems to be dominated by the sort of serious, gritty games that I generally detest. Suspension of disbelief goes out the window with some of these new games, and that scares me.

Anyway, thanks to the peeps who have answered my questions.
