This happened even on the GC with that version, version 1.06B has the PAL fix.

I have a fully updated US machine, Freeloader works fine. I suppose they could always change that in a future update though.

I'm rebuying most games as US anyway since so many have 480p.

Luckily, PAL GC games must be cheap as chips now ? Might pick up the donkey kong platform one you use the bongos for !

Gutted I can't play RE4 though - I was looking forward to that

Did you sell your usa game cube?

err....I might have missed something, but does you Gamecube all of a sudden break when brought in close vacinity of a Wii?!

In that case per oder cancelled.

Unless datel sort out a new version of Freeloader (and god lets hope so ) I may have to buy a US machine next year to play all my Cube games.Would be no bad thing as I would be able to play them in prog scan

Why does this issue keep getting raised whenever backwards compatibility is mentioned.

No, the Gamecube doesn't mysteriosly break when a Wii is near it.

Yes, some people have a limited amount of consoles/TV inputs so having more formats play on fewer devices is preferable.

I will be buying a US Wii in the new year primarily to play all my gc games on it (entire GC library is US) ... tbh the Wii is a much nicer looking piece of kit than the GC and with the front loading slot drive I can fit another one into my entertainment unit with the minimum of fuss, whereas the Cube being the mad shape that it is (when open to put the disc in) will take up a lot more room (two wii's - a UK and a US one) can be slotted into the same space as my GC currently takes up

Exactly, that's the thing for me. I replaced my modded GC directly with my US Wii (my GC games are either US or will be replaced by 480p US versions, and Freeloader does my 2 or 3 JPN ones), and will be replacing my modded PS2 with a US PS3 (hence me needing a US PS3 specifically). One pain in the ass with the 360 is that is can't play 90% of my XBox collection, and I've neither the space nor the sockets to keep an XBox1 connected.

Same here.I think its time to consign the Xbox to the loft in our house.

Havent played a game on it since the 360 was released.Although my AV rack will look bare without the crystal brick.

                      Make that four Wavebird dongles.

Like the PAL unit, Freeloader/AR doesn?t work on Japanese Wii?s (an ?unable to read disc? message is instead incurred), but for some reason they wok fine on US machines. I would suspect future batches of the machine will eradicate this fun little hack altogether unfortunately.

One thing to bear in mind John - My Gamecube was awkward on the unit due to the disc lid opening upwards - The wii has the GC controller and memory card slots on top of it so you'll be needing enough room above it to fit a dongle/whatever. As it stands I'll need to take mine out the unit to play GC stuff but no biggie as I'm currently locked to 3 games

So a PAL Wii will not play US/Jap gms with/without a freeloader, even if u dont update online?

PAL/JPN Wii is not compatible with Freeloader, thus cannot load import games.
Current US machines are compatible with Freeloader, though no-one knows if future ones will be.

My US Wii is fully updated, and still works with Freeloader.
