I think I might have posted this in another thread at some point, but here's the current setup minus a couple of machines (two ataris, a two dreamcasts and some other thing i can't remember).

That's a really nice setup, Paperghost.

It's nice you've been able to put space aside for your gaming and have still managed to tame the cable monster that normally results!

You could do with some more Dreamcasts though...

        @ capcom

thanks, the project looks like its going to be successful already. the Sony TV looks great on the white board. just one thing: i'd replace the antique looking table through a cheap white Ikea side table

do the consoles get enough air ventilation in the closed departments? the screen is large enough for this room. it covers the window, right? but can you darken the room completely? i've seen a glass door above.

i get your show stopping problem. i was already wondering what you would do about your older projector. i am very happy with my Panasonic PT-AX100E (720p) and can highly recommend it as it offers excellent value for money. but if was in your place now i'd wait for a pricedrop on Full HD projectors too. shouldn't take too long - a friend recently purchased a Sanyo PLV-Z2000 at 1400 Euros.

as for the sound setup: i'm going to replace my old Kenwood AV receiver soon too. i am going for a receiver with 1080p video processing and decent network capabilities. so far only Yamaha and Denon offer decent devices that fit my high demands. this is my main candidate at the moment:

        Denon AVR-3808 (1.500 Euro)

take a look at the onkyo Tx NR905 Uli, that's the only one I can find that does everything I need

The Denon amp's are brilliant. I don't think they've ever made a bad product!

I keep mentioning it but the xx08 and xx09 Denon models are superb! I am a Marantz convert and I'll never buy another brand again. They sound phenomenal, have an incredible range of functions, and are customisable to precisely what you want. And if you don't know what to do, set it to Auto Install and it does everything for you. Accurately.

The two top-end models are some of the best in the industry as well

That's stunning Paperghost, love it. Everything is ready to play and looks neat & tidy, ticks all the right boxes.

That's a great retro setup. It pains me that I have to keep my kit in cupboards & I think you did a good job in making it nice and tidy.

                  Excellent.

I am well impressed by the lack of cables. I cannot keep my cables tidy. Ever. So now I don't even bother.

I love your setup, paperghost. I wish I had the room to have something like that in our house.

yep, it's a great AV receiver, which even features 2 HDMI outputs! only problem is that firmware updates can only be applied by authorized service points. also after the warranty expires you have to pay for this service.

a friend has got one and he reports about handshake problems as well. though it's not yet clear whether it's the receiver or the TV that causes the problem.
