Oh god, you had those polystyrene ceiling tiles too. We're currently stripping back and renovating our flat as well and I assumed that removing those would be relatively easy.

Took 8 hours for 2 of us to get them off a room about 3m by 4m. The old owner had covered them with glue, came off in bits as you can see from the pics. The next day I spent 18 hours tidying up the ceiling, getting off as many small "bits" as I could and paper stripping for the plasterer. Had it all plastered, much nicer now

We're working on the false ceiling. Got the projection screen mounted, and the bloody thing is only a bit wavy on the bottom so I'll have to send it back Hope they accept it, been sat in the box for over a month today was the first time it's been "out". Though I'll leave it down a few days to see if it straightens itself out.

False ceiling up, just need to cap the end, tape and join, sand then paint. Then Friday can get the lights in. Very exciting

Screen is up, but needs to be lowered 2.5cm I think. Longer bolts and spacers needed, no biggie. As it's 2.35, when I zoom in the 1.85 image from the projector it's hitting the ceiling a tiny bit. Annoying and a quick fix, so I'll get on with it

Flooring tomorrow, and maybe add speakers. Tonight I have to work out the wiring and socket positions for a small sound insulation stud wall I want to build on Friday....

New pics up on FB of the screen Very exciting, feel we made great progress today!

Nice Cab Gradius, good to see it's up and running.

Finally got all of my retro stuff sorted out with a Joytech switching box. Time for a couple of pictures then.

              Just the consoles.

The glorious Loewe TV. It's like playing on a monitor only with really good sound quality. I really should get it properly calibrated one of these days.

A crappy close up of the TV in action.

And a wee picture of the PS2 hiding at the side of the TV.

I'm amazed at how difficult it is to get a stand for CRT TVs these days. Loads of people must still have them.

I'm considering moving the Wii through to that room as well. I think the VC stuff would look so much better on a CRT.

My CRT looks that damn good too through RGB.

I'll get some pics when I get my Victor Saturn from the post office tomorrow.

The Loewe looks to have very good geometry in 4:3 mode. A lot of the Sony widescreen's of the same era usually require additional service mode tinkering to get decent results.

My TV prior to that was a widescreen Sony set. The difference between the two of them was vast. I remeber the first time I played Halo on the Loewe set. It was a revelation being able to see all that detail Bungie had included. It was as if the Sonys screen was smeared with Vaseline. And don't get me started on the difference in sound quality.

My cousin is selling a 32" Loewe Nemos at present if anyone is interested?

As quick as the screen went up, it had to come back down. All my ceiling calculations went to **** on the day as we rolled with the build as technical issues occurred. The result is, when over projecting a 1.85 LCD projector onto a 2.35 screen, it's clipping a couple of cms on the ceiling. Spacers and longer bolts needed. Had to paint behind it anyway. May be back up by Tues I guess.

yesterday we put lots of power points in a Fermacell board, today it's going up. So much fun.... Real life is knocking at the door and I need to get back to my real job. Means work is going to significantly slow down now. Think I'm weeks away from completion :-(

You can probably just get a general stand, as long as they're rated for the weight. I reckon the stand that I got for my plasma could easily handle an average-sized CRT.

The weight of the TV was the problem. The set I have weighs 55kg! A lot of the stuff aimed at LCD's and plasmas aren't rated to cope with that or deep enough for the depth of such a set.

Sorta blurry pics for some reason, guess my lens focused on the TV. >_>
