1.5 kernel on a slim? Looks that way
If he gets that running it pretty much confirms Dark_Alex's status as a god.
I played with Skype today and it works brilliantly. A bit of a delay on the voice but nothing that you'd notice if you weren't both in the same room (we were when we played with it), and it'll be excellent to have next time I'm abroad. Just head into the nearest wi-fi hotspot and I can call home for less than a local callLast edited by NekoFever; 01-02-2008, 21:15.

Yeah, you can upgrade to normal 3.90 without a problem. The battery will just wipe it and put the custom firmware on there so keep upgrading with impunity.
I got my slim today as well and the first thing I did with it was to use my battery to get the firmware on there, even before I'd turned the thing on to test it. The only 1.5 kernel homebrew that I still had were those excellent CPS-1/CPS-2 and Neo Geo emulators so I got those upgraded to the newer slim versions (fun fact: the extra RAM on the slim means that you no longer have to mess around creating cache files for the CPS-2 games, although you still do for the Neo Geo), and spent a while getting a couple of games working when they stopped for some reason. Now everything's as it should be
Skype is really cool, too. I'm going to have to find myself a Talkman mic or something for next time I go abroad.

The best N64 emulator is Daedalus, but I'm not sure how good it is having never used it. Judging from videos it runs pretty well but has sound issues.Last edited by NekoFever; 02-02-2008, 15:33.

Super Mario 64 runs better than most but does suffer from very bad sound glitches. In the castle area the game runs pretty smoothly (with sound disabled), but when you enter the actual levels the frame rate tends to stutter a bit.
That said it's impressive from a technical point of view and worth a download if you are curious....just don't expect a nostalgic trip down memory lane though!!!
The CPS1, 2 & MVS emus Nekofever mentioned run very nicely thoughLast edited by tom-nook; 03-02-2008, 01:00.

daedalus - n64 emu, as mentioned doesnt support many games but Smash bros looks amazing because of the higher res.

There is a ROM convertor for the Mac but it only works with CPS2PSP/MVSPSP 2.0.6 and is no longer supported. Still, if that's any good to you it's available here.
I'm on a Mac and just use Windows through Parallels to do the ROM conversion. It was a pain in the arse to get my whole collection done but once I had the caches done I burnt them to DVD so that I had them safe and wouldn't have to do it again.

Been reading this thread all week and it got me excited as my PSP has been sitting in a draw for the last year. Right it is a 1.5, or it was I just went and switched it and found that some bugger has upgraded it to version 2.
I have been trying for the last few hours to downgrade it to 1.5 without much luck. What options do I have, the best would be upgrading to another firmware and then put custom on it. Any advice of what I should do?Last edited by wargame; 04-02-2008, 17:13.

Depending on which motherboard it is and whether you have any of the games with downgrade exploits (currently early versions of Liberty City Stories - if you have it and it has the 2.00 update on the disc that's the one you need - or Lumines) you can do it that way. If you have the original motherboard type you can use the very first downgrader as well.
Unless you have access to a Pandora battery you'll have to downgrade to 1.5 before you can install custom firmware anyway.
