A 1.5 psp can be upgraded to current CFWs easily, no need to get specific games or a pandora battery. Remote play and neo geo emus will work.

Afaik, the only way to hack a slim is with a pandora battery.

Just tried out the CPS2 stuff, couldnt get it to work, just get game could not be started after the psp logo comes up

      Copied over the cps2psp folder
cache folder with the AVP cache zip file i created
and roms folder with the AVP zip rom in it

Do i need to do anything else to the files, add anything? All the text files are in jap so utterly useless

Where did you copy the cps2psp directory to?

If you got the 1.5 kernel version, it needs to be in GAME150 but if you got the 3.xx version, it needs to be in the GAME folder.

Hope that helps, just got this working today myself and it runs like a dream!!

I got the 1.5 kernal version, for my 1.5 firmware psp.... all other homebrews and emus i've put on before have gone in the PSP\GAME folder.

I just tried putting it in a GAME150 folder and it didnt even list in the XMB. AFAIK the GAME150 folder only applies to custom firmwares.

Didn't notice you were still on the original 1.5!!

Sorry mate, don't know anyone who is still on this version so I can't help. If I was you, I'd just update to the latest custom firmware & be done with it.

I'm prob gonna go round to Destrukticor's house this week and get him to do it for me...

All this hastle to get this working has reminded me why i gave up with the homebrew/haxxoring thing a while back and the psp has been in my bedside draw for months.

You could have it done inside of half an hour, no fuss, hardly any messing about, just copy the relevant files onto the memory stick & press OK a few times.

I think you can pretty much jump straight to the latest version since you are on the original 1.5 firmware.

It's very easy to get updated to the latest firmware. The only thing is that the 3.90 M33 installer needs 3.52 M33-3 or above to work, so you have to install that firmware first. All the files are available here, so you need the 3.52 M33 installer, the M33-3 or M33-4 upgrade, and then the 3.90 M33 installer. Any of the official firmware files can be had here.

                  It's not difficult at all.

Just a question.. I haevn;t really followed all these psp hacks stuff.
If i go out and buy a psp/psp lite now.. is it hackable? (i mean flashable) just buy using downgraders etc?

Can i just buy (or borrow a friends psp) and do something too the battery (i guess buys a pandora one off ebay is stupid)?

Once that its up to 3.90 M33 I guess it will just load HB and isos off the flash cart?

If you buy a slim you will have to use a pandora battery in order to get a CFW on it, if you can get hold of a fat PSP with an older OFW on it then you can use other methods. You can make the memory stick using somebody elses PSP running CFW and either buy the battery or modify your own (Soldering involved, I believe).

Personally, I took the stupid route and bought both the MS and battery from eBay.
(Actually I contacted the guy through eBay but eventually bought through his online store as he doesn't charge shipping that way)

EDIT: Yeah once you're onto CFW it's really easy to rip the ISOs from your UMDs and load them from the memory stick. No idea about homebrew, I literally did this only so that I didn't have to use my UMDs.

to be honest, its only like £30 from ebay, and i know I could mess about getting a battery from a mate etc etc.. but its all grief..

I may just buy a slim and spend £30 on a battery (unless you know a cheaper place)

Also does the battery come charged? or can i plug it into the psp (I assume it fits no issues) and then leave it to charge for a few hours before switching on?

im guessing that moding a slim battery, i still need a flashed psp to setup the battery? or can i mod, then put the correct bits on the card and its boots the flash off the card and job done?

                          cheers

Holy crap you did yours? 2am eh... only took a grand total of 7 hours! (FYI for the rest of the forum, I was round his house for over 3 hours last night while we were trying to sort this)

How you manage it dude? What were we doing wrong?

And have you fixed my battery yet?

The battery I have is a fat one, but you can still put it in while you do the upgrade (Just put the PSP on a flat surface). I don't use it other than for CFW related stuff so I don't mind a little inconvenience.

I paid a little less than that (~£24 if I remember correctly - I can get the name of the place when I'm at home later) for the battery and the guy also provides good detailed instructions on what to do to create the memory stick.

Not sure about the battery modding questions though, like I said I didn't do it myself.
