This is a special pre-order price. At full price it's slightly cheaper than Vista but not by much. Also helps we're getting the full version at upgrade prices due to internet explorer not coming with it (which makes an upgrade impossible)

You'll be charged immediately though, so beware.

As mentioned this is a pre-order price only, full price is about ?150! I paid ~?60 for an OEM Vista though, so this is a steal.

        Ordered mine at Currys.

I've never bought a Windows OS before except for with a new PC/laptop. If I was to have a new PC built for me when Windows 7 is released, would I be able to install W7 on the new hardware without a pre-existing operating system?

As you can probably tell, I know very little about these things :P

^Yeah, that's generally the prefered way of doing it, in fact. Upgrading, or installing on top of another OS, is never really a good idea. You woudl just have the DVD boot on startup and follow the install instructions. If you're doing it yourself, you may have to find drivers for some of your hardware and install them post-intallation (if Windows Update doesn't find them itself).

You'll have to anyway, you can't upgrade with the EU version of Win 7

I can't be arsed with pirated OS software, its more hassle than its worth in my experience. And lets face it ?45 is hardly breaking the bank, esspecially for something you are going to use nearly everyday.

They get better and better at stopping the piratey stuff each time anyway, it just isn't worth the hassle. I like my hotfixes!
