LCD + FM = Laggy controls
CRT = 0 frames of lagg

This is a deal-breaker that no one seems to care about. I don't understand how this can't bother people.

I dont think it bothers people, because if its present, its minimal. Everything moves on screen, exactly the split second i move the controller. If i noticed laggy controls, i certainly wouldnt entertain the unit. I have gamed on TVs with hideous lag, so i know what its like. The FM is nothing like that at all and the four people (all gamers for 25+ years) that demoed it on at least 5 consoles, said they couldnt detect any.

My LCD has a game mode which turns off all processing for zero/minimal lag.

Maybe some amazing photographer would be able to capture what my Framemeister image looks like using my cheap camera, but I've tried many times now and the photos never do the Framemeister justice. I think HiVe's totally professional shots show what a top quality lens can achieve. Of course, he has professional skills to match his camera, so that's why his images look like perfection. He's able to capture 100% what his screen looks like. I wish he were my next door neighbour.

As someone who used all sorts of CRTs for over 20 years, I know what good CRTs are all about, and I have always used RGB and had machines like the N64 modded for the best image quality. Therefore, when I say the Framemeister can deliver an image that makes a huge LCD screen look like CRT, I'm not being delusional, as if it didn't deliver, I'd have sold it. When I first used the Framemeister, I was truly impressed, and continue to be impressed with what it does with all sorts of retro machines.

When it comes to CRT vs Framemeister, I'd say both are worth owning. A quality CRT can look good up to 29". HiVe has shown how great a PVM can look, as they cost many thousands of pounds when new. They are the Rolls Royce of CRT tech. A Framemeister is simply a great device for people who can't, or don't want to use a CRT, but do want to use their retro consoles on an LCD and have the image look nice. The Framemeister makes retro consoles look really good on an LCD, so seeing how terrible they look without a Framemeister, it really is a must-have for retro enthusiasts who use LCD screens.

I'd ideally have CRT television, a PVM and Framemeister. As I don't have the space for a CRT or PVM at the moment, I'm really happy that the Framemeister has given me a nice alternative. It really does deliver a clean, very attractive image with machines like the SNES using a decent RGB cable.

Well, my plan of doing a Framemeister video is out of the question. My only ultra high speed SD card is dead ! I need a U1 class 10 speed SD card to do 720p 60fps high quality video So, I'll just take a few photos instead and post them here.

Any of you big FM users ever experienced any lag?

So does most I think . My does too, but the only trouble is when in game mode, I can't use the dynamic picture setting (which I rather). The CRT TV's I use for Retro is my Philips Matchline III 100Hz 37 inch Widescreen TV in the old room and Sony 14 inch Triniton . I know full well to this day what a CRT image is looks like, but give me the Frammister on the 50 inch LCD anyday of the week

Nope, not at all. Sure there is lag but it's so slight that even hard core 60fps 3D Fighting nuts won't notice.

                  Stunning images. Surely 240p though?

Not content with committing one AV cardinal sin (inncorrect aspect ratio), you have committed a more serious second - using dynamic picture setting. Way oversaturated colours, maxed contrast and enough sharpness in the image to warp the pixels into a double image.....

Yakumo does a great job of selling it image wise, some of the other FM shots have been shockingly bad!

Since I bought a XBox back in 2001 I made the jump to Widescreen TV and also got a Widescreen TV the year latter and just got used to playing all the consoles in 16.9 even if they didn't support the mode. I hated the borders on the side of the screen and just went with the 16.9 display for all the systems and got used to it . On the LCD I much rather the dynamic picture setting and I don't see any lag difference myself no matter what console I use if game mode is used or not.

This talk about lag is a bit anal and its like the people who say vinyl records are the best, give me CD's or MP3 anyday of the week. For most people they'll never see it

I am always weary when people claim that their LCD TVs using a modded Xbox emulators, Neorage X, Retron 5, arcade multiboards etc doesn't have any detectable controls lag. 9/10 of the time it does. Some people just can't feel it, but it's DEFINITELY there.

For example if I play Final Fight on my arcade cab CRT and then I play it on my LCD through my SuperGun 'even without a FM' there IS significant control lag. I think it depends how deep you pay attention to the nuances of the game. If you just play a game for 20 mins and then move onto the next and don't know how it SHOULD feel then you're probably not gonna care tbh. But for old digitally controlled games it sticks out a mile to me.
