I have for years thought about trying to learn to use it properly by taking classes & the such but have never got round to it.
You don't need classes to learn to use a camera properly. Developing an artistic vision though, sure!

Possibly not but I have bought books & the whole thing about Shutter Speeds & F numbers etc. confused me no end so think a class or something where someone could show me & explain it in words I'd understand would be better & I wouldn't feel like I'd wasted money on the Camera lol

Enough of the sarcasm - where are your CRT pics? ;-)

I'm going to do a HD video tomorrow running at 60fps. That should look good.

Will you be putting up on your retrocore youtube channel? (Awesome channel BTW!) Could you do some MD footage if possible? Thanks!

I will be, yes. Should go up on Sunday. I'll do Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, SFC all via RGB and PS2 via D-Terminal. May throw on some Game Cube too.

I really like you to show me VF 2 running on a CRT that looks better or VF Remix .The Framister blows the CRT display out of the water. If not for the crappy auto focus on the phone the pics would be much better . In saying that nothing will really show you what it's like unless you see one running for your self in the Flesh .

Anyone that owns a unit would say the same for retro consoles .

The Framemeister blows a CRT out of the water? That's some statement and not one anyone else is making.

Again, not doubting it's a top product at all. It's clearly very clever but it simply cannot match a native CRT for all SD resolution modes. It's too much to ask with the vast array of resolutions but it's certainly a top product.

It's most certainly a preference thing when it comes to the CRTvsFM debate. Ultimately they are both excellent solutions to play retro games. The FM brings the ability to play numerous consoles at different resolutions at the best quality on a flat panel display. It's also a lot more safer and simpler than the CRT route.

Ive put a lot of effort into getting the best possible image through a CRT. Building numerous cables, modding systems for RGB etc getting lucky with my monitor purchases. I done it because I love the images a CRT provides. They both offer great quality but are not the same.

The only thing I can say is I've not had the opportunity to experience a FM. I'd love the chance expecially coming from playing on a CRT.... especially on games like Mega Man and Ninja Gaiden!

I'm trying to figure out how a FM is safer and simpler than a CRT. I simply plug my system in and turn it on, no messing.

The FM newer firmware uses profiles, so all settings can be stored. It automatically saves settings from each source too.

There is no messing about once you have your desired settings

That's good. Although I've found when using similar devices I struggle to find a preference of things like scan line density etc! [emoji38]

I'll say it again because this thread seems to have gone a little crazy and only focused on the image quality.

LCD + FM = Laggy controls
CRT = 0 frames of lagg

This is a deal-breaker that no one seems to care about. I don't understand how this can't bother people.

I think that the LCD would be the variable that would induce lag or not - the FM response time is 1-2 frames which is deemed "lagless".

Obviously a CRT is still going to be more responsive but how many games need that amount of precision? Games that do tend to have offset adjustment too like IIDX and PaRappa.
