The Framemeister is okay I guess but you can't beat a CRT for low-res stuff, no matter how nice it looks on an LCD. I can't believe that input lag hasn't been discussed more in this thread, from my experience it's significant. I'm not sure if it's not as detectable with modern games/analog controls, but playing a Megadrive through a Framemeister on an LCD has lagg no matter how ninja your set-up is, it's just the way it is. Some people can't detect it but it sticks out a mile to me, especially 2D shooters. I agree that a CRT can look a bit unsightly in a modern AV setup but a saw and a few screws can sort that out

      Huh...

You've not noticed the song track mismatching in IIDX from a HDD yet then?

Nah I've not noticed anything. Tbh I gave up using the HDD after a week or so, I found it quicker to load IIDX directly from the disk than waiting for the HDD boot-disk menu to load up. What's the issue?

There's like, two halves of the song on different tracks. Given that the typical HDD software doesn't have write limits (as disc media does) it plays too fast and thus the song gets separated from how it should sound normally.

The remedy is to use HDD software that does have write limits in place, but I've never really played around with it. DDR has the same issue.

My giddy aunte! You learn something new everyday I wasn't good enough to notice if there was a problem or not after a just a weeks play, it didn't seem especially funky though. When I first got the PS2 I re-downloaded the newest bootdisk off emu paradise because the one I had was pretty scratched. I'll give it a good test later on. Cheers

Footage shot today - camera didn't work so well in the darker sections but I love how the brighter sections look and I've not even played with the settings yet!.

Don't read the video description if you are playing the guessing game!

That video above is Deffo FM. Can't see any refresh flicker.

You can see the flicker in this video I took.

The Castlevania video just has pixels in the wrong places. It doesn't move smoothly like it would on a solid image CRT.

                          That's missing an audio channel.

To my eyes, this video does the Framemeister no justice at all. It just looks like a camera pointed at an LCD screen.

I tried taking photos of the image I get with the Framemeister, but my camera couldn't capture how good it looks.

I don't think you can really capture what a CRT or Framemeister image truly looks like using a video camera. That video footage in no way represents what the Framemeister delivers.

The footage you've shot actually looks very similar to what I get with the Framemeister, except for the flicker and glow. I've been using the Framemeister a lot recently with my SNES and the image really does look close to a CRT, but without certain things that an LCD can't replicate.
