      Well that F'ing sucks!!

Was hoping we'd see one final collection of Espa & Ibara before they closed totally.

      Shame really

The wall of Japanese text doesn't help...are there more details about this? Like, has the staff been fired or moved to other departments? Or are there words from the consumer staff that they already plan to open a new studio?

No more Cave games on consoles or iOS!

This is terrible news. Reviewing Mushi 360 for this site changed my gameplaying life and how I approach designing games. I'm late to the party but Cave profoundly changed me.

To put a slightly more positive spin on things, it's worth bearing in mind that they were essentially born from the ashes of Toaplan. It wouldn't surprise me if at some point in the future, some of the staff try and get back to making these sorts of games.

Sad news indeed. I've always been confused about their business tactics, especially with the 360 releases, but going "online and social" is something that doesn't appeal either! As Silvergun said, end of an era.

Microsoft, please put all of their stuff on your Games on Demand service NOW! (Still pissed that SOMEHOW the yanks got Deathsmiles 2)

I feel like crying. I know that sounds a bit over the top, but for me it's like if Studio Ghibli closed down.

                      GUYS

Apparently this is down to a mistranslation and isn't true: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost...81&postcount=1

Was gutted there for a moment. Doesn't seem like we'll be getting console games often from then though. After hearing this news maybe I should take a punt on the new DDP after all.

So, its not all bad news thankfully.

As this latest DDP game is the last in the 360 Arcade versions, I am wondering if anyone is willing to compile a list of "gaps" between the Japanese only releases and the ones that can be played in the UK, either by region-free or released by RSG?

To my knowledge, games playable in the UK/EU are as follows...

                          Mushihime-sama Futari (Region Free)
                          Espgaluda II (Region Free)
                          Muchi-Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets (Region Free)
                          Deathsmiles (RSG)
                          Dodonpachi Resurrection (RSG)
                          Akai Katana (RSG)
                          Dodonpachi Saidaioujou (Region Free)

If one was to purchase a JP 360, what other titles would you need to pick up in addition to these to get the best shooters?

                            englishbob,

I posed a similar question a few weeks ago.

I don't know if it's worth the shipping + possible customs fees though for the J console... The unit is about the same price.

Not many, and most of them are niche titles that might not interest you at all: The Idolm@ster, GalGun, Dream C Club, Love Training...Senko no Ronde was ported in the west by Ubisoft, so it's mostly region locked/unavailable shooters.
