Final Fantasy XI Then...

Well, I could post dozens as I've had a really great few days in the game - but i'll spare you all the pics of darwock in a santa hat waving next to a christmas tree...

I've been on a mission to defeat all the summoner's avatars that i can fight at this stage of the game, and as of now there is only Ifrit still to defeat (he kicked my ass on the previous attempt). It has been one hell of an expensive endeavour, i estimate 120,000 gil so far and if I lose the next time I will be out of money. Tonight I defeated Leviathan, in an extremely close fight, he repeatedly turned on me when he should have been fighting carby and whacked us both with his 2hr... however I beat him and also set the server record for the battle So in honour of that (and also because I like the pics) here is what I have been up to:

I have enough potions for one more attempt, after that i'm faced with the prospect of selling my black mage gear to fund another battle. in fact, I'm going to have to sell something just to get the fare for the airship home...

Congrats on the other avatars. Looks like Ifrit is a toughy. Out of interest - how much is it costing you each time you do the fight???

Er.. hmmmm... not sure but I have used up every last gil I owned, and I started with 140,000. Depends how far into it I got and how much of my supplies I used before death. I have been quite lucky in that I didn't need more than 3 attempts on any one avatar (a poor sod I know on another website fought Shiva and Ifrit around twenty times!).

Anyway, a new pic which is too good not to share - look he's actually crushing my head!



Not many people could survive that you wouldn't think, but if you look closely you can also see Carbuncle is readying himself to pounce. That final pounce was the searing light that killed Ifrit and won me the last of the lvl 20 summons. woohoo!

Alright, I've finally succumbed to giving this a go, sorry Soi. Looks like I'm going to be spending the rest of the day installing and updating and probably playing a little Halo.
In the meantime anyone have any hints for a total noob

How do I go about getting a World Pass?
Seem to be updating everthing at the moment.

You can try looking on http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/ to see if anyone has posted a Serpah World Pass that you can use. Otherwise someone can buy one in game for you. If you haven't got one when i'm on later (9pm ish) I will buy one for you. Just need to find who the NPC selling them is in Windurst.

Right, if you let me know before 9pm if you haven't got a pass then i'll pick one up and PM it to you.

Only other thing you need to think about is race and starting city. If you choose a home city for a race (eg. Bastok for Hume) then you get a nice ring with some reasonable stats...

Also don't forget to let us know what your character's name is when you are online on Seraph so that we can make sure you get a Linkpearl, then it's easier to chat

Me and Mihki need to get our 58 and 60 AF pieces, especially the 58 ones seeing as we are level 58 now!

Probably if we can get the static together Tobal, Wedge, DG and some other's to help Bayan, Rare, Tox, Apathye etc it shouldn't be too much of a problem, although we might need a very high level tank to kill the WHM NM in Fei Yin.

Are people available some time this week to do this? Or should we set it for next weekend?

Ces let me know when you want to try for the Garlaige Citadel Banishing Gates and I'll come help. The more people that can cast Sneak / Invis the better!
