Just a quick suggestion to the Promyvion crew if you dont mind:

Promathia missions were setup so that only a handful of jobs would be extremely useful, and the rest being absolutely useless. So the jobs that get priority over anything else would be:

Ranger - Number one damage dealer.

Warrior with ninja sub - Best tank because you can do damage and use utsusemi.

Summoner - Can act as a white mage AND use astral flow 2 hour (you'll need it for promy-dem)

Black mage - no explanation necessary.

I can take part during any evening after 7pm for the time being. As university gets hectic again, probably late Feb, I suspect I'll be reduced to friday and saturday nights.

Anyway. my job combo would probably be WAR/MNK, as they are my highest levelled, and best equipped, jobs at present.

Sorry Razz but we are refusing to believe that.

S-E would not have designed the Promyvions so that they could only be completed by certain jobs. Yes it has been proven that certain jobs excel at it, but that shouldn't mean that all others should be left out and players of them should be forced to level another job (which they have no desire to use in any other way) that is 'acceptable' for whatever is planned.

I do enjoy this game immensely but one thing that has saddened me, moreso over the last 9 or so months, is the short-sightedness of a large percentage of its player base with what can and cannot be done.

This is gooing to sound as if I am anti-RNG, which I am sorry about as it isn't true (I once chewed out a DRK I was PTed with who claimed RNG were overr-opowered and that DRK should be premier damage dealers). As a NIN I respect any top class RNG as I know what it is like to play a job where your level of performance increases exponentally with your gil funds. However, it seems that as of late, Vana'diel's solution to any problem is 'THROW MORE RANGERS AT IT!!!!1!!1!!!' which in a game containing 15 jobs, is somewhat disappointing.

I wonder if the concept of blink-tanking would have ever of come about had players always been so narrow-minded.

Apologies for rant, as I do appreciate your efforts to help. However, the LS we have seems more than willing to do things away from the accepted norm.

Yeah, I agree, that's annoying to listen to sometimes.

I wouldn't say 'killing the game' in my case, I seem to be miles behind everyone else in terms of jobs levelled and missions completed. I am enjoying playing it though, regardless of the fact I'm in that situation.

I still enjoy playing it but seem to be very on and off.

I seem to wear myself out by playing alot for a week or two and find I need a break to get motivated again.

I lvling Drk now which I got to lvl 22 and am enjoying being a Damage Dealer, its very different from mages and bard.

I accept your apology, however, you will have to succumb once(if) you get past promyvions. The missions get 10000 times harder so you need the best strategy, which right now, consists of what I suggested. I think you should also ask around Vana-diel for help on Promathia missions because they are very different to what you are used to with your average Sandoria/whatever missions.

I don't know if you're calling me short-sighted or not, but maybe you should think about what the jobs I listed can do compared to those that weren't. I also find it baffling as to why S-E made only a handful of jobs useful for missions. As you progress, you will begin to realise what I have said is true.

Razz you're also the guy who told me my spirit pacts were 'completely useless' - the same spirits that have saved my neck on numerous occasions..

That being said, this mission may be the incentive I need to accelerate my summoner to level 30, I've been 20 for a month now waiting for my friend to catch up and I'm getting bored!

Well we?ll just have to see how it goes Razz I may not even be able to go anyway (depending on the gil situation). I have no doubt that the jobs you stated will make beating the Promyvions easier. That is proven and has to be accepted as a given. However, the point I was trying to make is that a party away from the usual accepted PT dynamic may also be able to succeed, albeit with more difficulty.

..and quite possibly more fun too...

Of course, for promyvions, I'm sure you can do it without the tried and tested setups but it'll be alot harder than usual, and may force you to spend more on medicines than normal.

Anyhow, do tell us how it all goes. Good luck

Well it's been a slow time after the BCNM60 eeuhm ... event. I've been levelling Warrior (with varying degrees of success) Had a party yesterday with Apathye which rocked (dual ninjas, WAR/thf (me) THF/nin (apa) MNK/thf (some idiot) and WHM/brd (nice mithra whose name i can't remember) chaining like crazy on beetles in altepa. Only thing that slowed us down was one NIN was babysitting >< so we had downtime when he was AFK, after we dinged a few lv 34s we moved to shalmels which resulted ina few deaths. Apa had to go shortly after and we got a PLD instead (Don't ask) which didnt work out, we'd get chain 3 and then a death, raise, rest up, chain 3, death etc. After i regognised the pattern I bailed and the party broke.

I've taken up fishing again, so very very very very very very slowly gaining a few levels in that. I got really tired of cooking (last updates' changes have put everyone below lv80 cooking out of business effectively, I can't craft my own food anymore, which was my goal for cooking), so I've decided to take something up that I can do anywhere during downtime and makes (more or less guaranteed) money.

I've also got my eye on a Vigor Ring (lv 54, VIT+4) before last Christmas these were never on sale (and thus cost millions) but since last december a few Goldsmiths have reached the level they can craft these so more are available now and they AH for about 600k I don't need one right now, so I hope to fish together the cash of a period of time. Eventually I want to own 5 or 6 rings that I can combine for whatever the situation calls for: Vigor Ring (VIT+4) Chrysoberyl Ring (VIT+3) Phalanx Ring (Def:10) Jelly Ring (Phys. Damage taken -5% Magic Damage Taken +5%) and a Mind +3 or +4 Ring (to help magic def, this basically to switch out with the Jelly) I might get an AGI ring as well, to help parry and shield skills.

About Promy and thinking outside the box (eeugh management speak) I look forward to the extra challenge, as for medicines every LS should have a Tobal ^^ who can craft those for them Yay Alchemy! Also, We levelled from 58-60 in a most unusual party that relied on just one thing: player equipment and skill. We had: PLD/war (myself) WHM/blm (mahlory) BRD/whm (Wedge) SAM/war (Tobal) SAM/war (Toxicforce) and NIN/war (Natasha, Tox' friend). Basically, we relied on Skillchains for damage and that was about it. Yet we chained 4's and 5's in a setup which the average player wouldnt even consider, let alone use to gain exp with. We pulled in well above average EXP and everyone went away happy.

The above party does rely on the fact that we are equipped to the teeth in good gear and all of us are well experienced players, but then, our parties that will go into promy will have the lush lv 30 equips AND consist of people who, by and large, have all played for at least 6 months.

We can do it (put your ass into it).

Hey Super, it's been out in the UK for a while now so you should be able to pick it up in your local game shop. Not sure about connecting your PS2 to the internet, perhaps someone else could answer that?

As mentioned countless times before, if you do decide to get it let us know and we'll get you a World Pass so that you can play on the Seraph server and join our linkshell

Can't get PS2 version in this country - you have to import both the game and the console from the US. You can only get the PC version over here.
