Still a couple of niggles though, has anybody else encountered an issue where the transparencies on the status icons and equipment don't work? Blink/Bio look like bogies stuck to the screen, and the lovely blue RSE gear has gone solid grey...

Also the text colours are quite pale, I'd like to get my skill-up messages in the same bright yellow as on PS2, and spells which are greyed out are nowhere near as dark as I'm used to.

I checked the config menus but couldn't find anything obvious.
Try messing around with the Mip Mapping and Bump Mapping settings, turning them on and off, they are possible causes for the grey graphics.

Mixed bag last night... I need to kill Orcish Trooper(s) in Davoi so headed to the Monastic Cavern zone. The first mobs (Orcish Gladiators & Bow[somethings...]) checked as EP and DC so decided to pull one these. To cut a long (sad) story short 1st try was a DC and I had to zone, 2nd one was a EP and it killed me after a long pathetic fight...

      Oh dear /embarrassment

Too long RDM'ing in parties and no solo tactics here I think.

After that I headed to Ordelle Caves to try for the Hume M Gloves RSE. This was a totally different experience at 49 than last time I went for RSE (Later 30's). Got the key after about an hour and the chest followed 20 mins later.

In total contrast to my EP failure, Ordelle proved to be a very pleasing experience. Even though mobs were TW, they can still take down your HP at my level (Smithy's, Pathfinder's, Stroper's etc) but with using Stoneskin and just Slow/Paralyze and Refresh I had absolutely no downtime. This makes the prospect of my upcoming farming sessions at least slightly pleasing!

Rare, thanks for the quest info last night regarding the earring, will look into this and then asuming I can get the quest would like to try this sometime soon.

Further evidense that Treasure Hunter II counts for Jack when it comes to rare items. When I was in Ordelle's cave the other week looking for another quest item from inside that chest, it took me about 3 hours to find that sodding key. And again while looking for a chest key while inside the Maze of Shakhrami a few days ago - 1 hour tops somehow turned into 5 >< Somehow managed to get talked into waiting for Argus to spawn with another group who'd lost their THF.

Pleasantly surprised the other night however, turns out that the Star Orb for the BCNM 40 fights that I thought I had used up during my first BCNM is infact still usable. Really should use it up pretty quickly however before the price of that ni scroll drops to something more sensible.

How do you know it's usable? I thought my first cloudy orb was usable after I lost the fight, as the item description didn't change... until I tried to use it, then it told me it was cracked.

Guess I don't, the item description really should change tho. Could potentially save a person ALOT of time

You can try trading the orb to the guy who gives you the orbs. If it's been used, he'll take it off you and give you a little bit of fame. If it hasn't been used, he wont.

Well, I think Lady Luck was on my side today.

I started playing at 11am this morning, and logged off at 2330. There was a total of two hours when I wasn't playing, but the rest of the time was spent in Vana'diel.

When I logged on, I decided to see if I could get my THF levelled, and took this as a good sign (because it looked nice ):

THF was at level 12 when I started. When I left the game, three parties later, it was at level 17.

Not bad for a day's work if I do say so myself.

Time permitting tomorrow, I'm going to get THF to level 20.

Also, one minor note. This guy, Misthral:

did a cracking job as the WHM of my first party. I doubt I'd have got to level 14 without his help.

Sorry about the bitching earlier. The early part of this game really does need a complete redesign.

1st Exp party in 4 weeks last night as I try to claw back the distance between myself and Tsing/Darwock...

2 x Escape, 1 x Death (not me!), 3 x People Leaving and 1.2k exp in 2 hours. Oh how I enjoyed the return to Garlaige Citadel

Hmm, sounds like fun! I found the basement at level 49+ to be generally much nicer than the ground floor at level 32+, the only thing that ever went wrong was when some nobber trained about 36 citadel bats onto our camp as we fought another bat, and died in front of us. Still, one good thing about the ****adel - it's a short walk back to civilization!

I also found basement in Garlaige to be pretty good EXPing (apart from 1 specific PT that Wedge may remember from about a year ago where I lost shadows and no one would heal me). You may find yourself going back there and have a better experience next time.

Good thing is as you get higher in the levels more locations to PT become available and you have several options at the moment, so whlst you may not enjoy one you may find another really clicks with you. I enjoyed Quicksand Caves all the times I've been there for example.

Farming last couple of nights was awkward but being so close to my target meant I stuck it out. I have noticed though that things seem slower earlier in the evening with more competition then gets easier as the evening passes. I think I may try somewhere ealse for farming tonight then move to Korroloka around 8-9pm.

Saying that I made 200k on Monday (10 stacks) and 240k yesterday (12 stacks). However yesterday I also killed the Spider NM in there too which dropped 2 spider webs (20k each). 480k for 2 days farming will do me ^_^

Weekend(saturday) looks the most likely, if not we'll try and put our own together.
