I might be around to help out, planning to be on this evening but it all depends what time I get my Chicken Madras with Tikka Rice

Sorry to mess the plan up like this, Tsing, but it looks like I can attend after all, as the family meal out has been cancelled.

So, if you don't mind, I'll meet you all in the Tavnazian safehold at 2000?

Well it was a long slog last night for not to much gain, as per usual a delayed start cut down severely our chances of getting all the BLM and RNG gear and removed any chance of getting to the second library for the THF subligar. Once we go going though it was a pretty smooth run to the library and we managed to get the following

          Hicory - RDM Subligar
          Wedgemoon - BRD Subligar
          Meric - PLD Subligar
          Darwock - BLM Subligar

Unfortunately no map either but it did get 2 from our original list of what we were in there for. Think we were quite unlucky on RNG with 4 kills and no drop but that would seem to be life.

Now the good news for me was I logged in this morning checked the library saw the ??? clicked it and hey presto one map. So 3 items out of the 7 we went in for initally not counting what Saerik and Meric may have been after + 2 bonus drops ^^

Congratulations Tsing, two things that seemed like they were never going to happen - you getting the map, and me getting this fetching garment:

Turns out I was very lucky not to have already handed in my whm/smn subligar - the items required to trigger the first one set me back 120,000 - got my BLM gear so I can sell it again, no biggie - but for the next one the stuff costs over 700,000 gil! As if getting the subligars isn't hard enough ><

Anyway it's cool gear, the SMN side isn't as great as I thought as it only reduces the cost of the dark spirit, nothing else. If I had a HQ dark staff and the avatar belt it might be a little nicer, but heheh.. as if that's ever going to happen.

And since I'm posting pics for the first time in yonks, here's some of the other 'recent' events.

Quality picture of me there DArwock like that a lot!

Well yesterday was another milestone in the life of Karyn (my NPC). Levelled her to 47 in the Eldieme Necropolis and then after a quick chat with Luto opened the advanced job quest. After another quest extravaganza I now have an NPC with Fierce Attacker and Stalwart Shield jobs. Just trying now to find a manul of endurance for Soothing Healer. I have to say levelling the NPC has been great fun and has allowed me to do a lot more solo than i would have been able to otherwise.

Today my Valkyrie mask sold netting me 1.4 million and I was able to buy back my Royal Knight Breechers that I sold to get the Haubie. Next on the list are...

              Assault Earring
              Spike Earring
              Assailants Ring
              Rutter Sabatons
              Amemet Mantle +1

Any advice on hand equips would be good, trying to come up with a solo kit to strengthen my weeknesses without lower my natural strengths as a PLD.

My other big choice now is Spike Necklace vs Royal Gaurds Collar, I'm thinking the collar as PLD base STR is pretty good. Go no let me know your thoughts, other than the obvious one of why are you wasting you gil on that gear Tsing.

My opinion is alwyays if you are trying to get equipment for a specific character build, your money is best spent on slots where you have no suitable equipment for that slot, over getting an improved piece of gear for a slot.

Whether or not Spike Necklace, R.G. Collar is better is irrelevant when yo've already highlighted 5 other slots that need equipment. Focus on the collar, once the other bits have been sorted.

For a PLD, you also need to account for the downside of the spike necklace which is the -6 to mnd which I'm sure you're aware affects the strength of heal spells (just how much of an impact a loss of 6 pts is going to make tho I'm not sure)

I don't know whether or not personal healing is important to you Tsing or if you just rely on whitemages, but it is something to think about.

Daragon for this kit I'll be using it for solo so I'll be self healing but the soft cap I thouhg was impacted by healing magic not MND wil have to check on that. Thought te main purpose of MND was for sticking enfeebles which isn't a big use for me but also aided in resistance to nukes etc. At the moment I use macroed in healing + gear for all cures to gain extra potency.

I thought INT was for enfeeble sticking?

Sorry to jump in while everyone's so advanced but i've finally got the time...and my life sorted enough to start playing this properly.
I bought the Bradygames guide and i'm looking at becoming a Monk with Red Mage as backup.

After i've done the obvious levelling up is there anyone else on here that's quite new too? Don't fancy questing on my own

                        Comment

Red mage doesn't really support monk too well, unless you want to play as both seperately. Its best to pick a supporting job which enhances the abilities and attributes of your primary job, for example:

Black mage + red mage = more mp, more spells, more intelligence which increases spell damage.

For monk, I'd recommend warrior as the sub as it grants you much more hp, strength and defense.

Thanks for the advice Daragon, The guide i've got doesn't touch massively on the benefits/disadvantages, just recommends certain ones.

Because the games been going so long now i'm a bit worried i'm gonna find it hard to find a party that's around the same level as i'l be in a couple of weeks.

Can anyone clairfy if it's worth starting now? Or is it best to just jump onto RF Online instead?

Actually MND and INT do not have any effect on whether an Enfeeble sticks or not - they effect the duration of the enfeeble (for those that are not a set length). Enfeebles are either MND based or INT based dependant on the one being used. Enfeebling magic skill, elemental strenght / weakness effects and mob stats effect the spell landing. MND and Healing magic skill both effect the performance of the Cure spell.

The easiest way to get your head around this is that Magic Skill along with the elemental adjustment and the mobs stats is your accuracy - does the magic miss, is it resisted, or does it land full force. The MND/INT is the bit that actually work out what damage/effect is caused once it has landed.

I wouldn't worry about finding people to group with, there's always going to be those leveling new jobs and don't forget, the 360 launch will undoubtedly bring fresh players to the game in april.
