Well last night truely was a monumental battle, after th initial wipe on the first try I can only say I wasn't overly optimistic on getting very far on the second run. When rare went down and then following our attempts to hold it asleep everyone bar me Saerik and Tobal were in a big dead pile following what I think was self destruct.

At this point out go Saerik and tobal to kite, personalyl I think we're screwed but I head mp and do the best I can. Then wonder of wonders I'm able to raise Rare, as the mob comes back rare picks it up and starts kiting. I'm now praying for MP and to be able to get Meric up before Rare gets beaten to a pulp. The good thing I can see is that some point the mob had done self destruct 2 and we're down to just one bomb!

Rare does a phenominal job with Saerik of staying alive and I get Meric up and heal some more hoping to get the MP to raise talizker. Rare unweakens and of all things the bomb kills him before I can raise tal. So off goes the MP to riase Rare again, and when he's up after soem cnfusion I manage to trade an x-potion and pamama au-lait to meric just after he's unweakened. Suddenly we have a tank thant can survive. This time rare and meric hold it till I can raise talizker at this point Tobal has home pointed and is running back. From here on it went pretty smoothly with the culmination being the drop.

What can I say the longest and most off the cuff battle I've ever been in. Amazing must have been nearly 40 mins from spawn to kill, just show again what we can do in a pinch. Now I can safely say I never want to see the damn mob again, great work from the whole team. Skillchains from thieves, sleeps from mages, damge and kting from others no one slacked and very few screw ups.

And we even got more folks the map!

Tickle when you make it to the server I think our current sack holders are (though I bet I miss a few), Apathye, Tsingtao, Hicory, Bayan, Tobal, and Wedgemoon. If you send anyone a tel in game I'm sure we can sort it pretty simply.

One last reminder before you leave Hydra make sure you turn as much of your gil as possible into AH items. From what I hear Hydra is very cheap compared to seraph so if you comne toting gil you'll have a horrible shock. If you want to ask about what to buy we can probably help but for a taster...

Yep, took two attempts and the second attempt was at least 30 minutes in duration (I used ES three times).. has to be said, we didn't exactly make it easy for ourselves! Was a tremendous experience though, better than most boss battles. Nice not to have a time limit.

So will this restore a bit of momentum to a level 50 garrison then? I'm sure you'll be eager to put that blade to use ^^

edit - feel sorry for Wedgemoon, losing level 75 ><

I got it back with a 5exp buffer when we beat the NM ^^

My 1st big purchase last night, 2.5M on the Penitent Rope. I'd had the gil from the Sleepga II Scroll and Mannequin Body for a while now and I was gradually spending it on nothingmuch so figured it was about time to put it to use on something that will last me forever!

Unfortunately it also left me with a mere 45k >< so was thinking about another Mannequin Body BCNM20 if anyone was interested.

I spent a little time camping Dune again last night and claimed him once with no drop (0/9 now...) and missed out to some high level THF the second time.

Time to make some plans! I go away on Holiday in 4 weeks so I am going to try getting WHM and BLM both to Lv38 before I go which will mean i'll be ready to start moving on from Lv61 with RDM when I get back. Expect to see those "Lv3x party tonight, do you need it?" posts coming in thick and fast in the next couple of weeks!!!

I fought a NM last night called, I think, Ya Ra Ma Ya Who... this dropped a fasting ring (MP+10, HP-20, STR+1) which turned out to be perfect for my summoner. OK I could do without the minus HP, but the strength +1 complements my wizard's shield to give total strength +3.. I need this to help me land damaging hits on VT/IT mobs in order to get TP - at earlier levels I used a spike necklace for this purpose but as I occasionally got abuse for that, I much prefer this more discrete combination of equipment ^^

Anyway I didn't go out seeking a party but instead ran around rolanberry soloing mobs (smn/blm) for a while with my chariot band active. My flag wasn't up but I got invited into the nest anyway, so cos of my new ring I decided to give it a shot. Figured I'd probably need a thick skin to get through the night, but what the hell.

Man, I forgot how much I love this! Party was PLD/PLD/THF/RDM/BRD & me. This worked out great for my wannabe-samurai style, as I was getting both accuracy & mp from the bard.. plus nobody else was co-ordinating any skillchains which left me free to do my own thing. The hardest part was trying to fit my own chains in around other people's weapon skills, cos nobody was really paying attention.

Eventually the bard got swapped out for a black mage. I love black mages! He wanted fire chains to MB with, so I talked him through my macros, and all of a sudden everyone was on the ball... all three of us casters were bursting and none of the melees were interrupting the chains. Niiiice. Left the party at 1:30am having gained level 38.

I really thought this method of play would be impossible at this level without the carby mitts; what with higher perpetuation costs (why the f*&k doesn't auto-refresh rise in line with the avatar costs lol) etc, I thought I'd be starved of MP while trying to keep my TP up - but it was fine. If I did want to conserve I would just hit everyone with rolling thunder and release Ramuh, that way I was still contributing damage to the fight, it just wasn't costing me anything ^^

Gonna get back in the saddle after that quality experience. And to pre-empt any slagging off I may receive I think I'll stick "only god can judge me" in my comments.

Right D, thats it! I need to party with you as SMN. I had an absolutely stunning party a few months ago with a Japanese SMN who was basically doing th role of BLM along with the usual buffs etc. We raked the Exp in - its a real shame that this is not seen more. Respect.

Well I don't really do that either, I always wanna get in trading blows which is what a lot of people apparently have issues with. The carbuncle mitts would definitely make it a little easier to justify doing it.

Speaking of which, I may be requesting support on that very issue at some point. If we could get Wedge along for his light carol and a high level summoner for stoneskin then I might be able to survive the searing light when I spawn it at level 60ish. I believe there are lots of problems with surrounding mobs though. hmmm.

empress hairpin is rare/ex, the emperor hairpin does the same job but can be sold. They brought in the rare/ex versions to try to stop gilsellers hogging the drops.
