Well, Swift Belt run nearly happened.yesterday

Still, we managed to get a Fomor Codex for daragon so that’s another person’s attempt sorted, just need the actual NM spawning and killing (which in the case of Humes doesn’t need an awful lot, 2xNIN, WHM, THF (for TH2) and another DD are plenty).

Also yesterday morning I spent some time in Misareux Coast and managed to slaughter 20 fomor. My hate may not be quite maxed but it should be very high now.

In other news, I obtained another 2 merit points on Friday evening (technically Saturday morning – why is the LS seemingly more active at 1am? ) allowing me to raise Critical Hate Rate to lvl3. Another 4 merits for the final level on that then begins the long arduous grind for 5 STR modifications (3>6>9>9>9 merit points).

Finally, spent a good portion of time levelling my Throwing skill in The Boyahda Tree. Managed to get it up to 267 so only another 2 levels remaining until capped. After that I will try and obtain a Coffinmaker and work on Marksmanship, so if anyone is interested in attempting the KSNM30 Prehistoric Pigeons, let me know.

Anyone else fancy going on a massive AF run this week then? I only need to lvl BLM to 50 (currently at nr.49) and then I'm good for both sets.

And then I'll be off of peoples backs until an obligatory BCNM @ lvl60.

I have 15KSs btw. I assume these start rolling in past lvl55?

Yeah, Kindred Seals will only drop off higher level mobs (I think anything 50+) compared to Beastman Seals which can drop off anything (provided it is Easy Prey or higher).

What's involved with KSNM30 Prehistoric Pigeons then exactly? I could be ready for some of that this weekend, although I'm not going any further than 51 with BLM without a full set of staves so could be out of KSs unless I cane WHM (got Light+Dark staves).

Oh, you can’t do a KSNM until about 70+ >_< All KSNM are uncapped.

KSNM30 simply refers to the number of seals used to purchase the orb, not the level cap involved.

Yeah, I can see how it would be confusing. My apologies.

Basically there are 2 levels of KSNM.

KSNM30 – these are the traditional 6 man battles similar to the normal BCNMs.

KSNM99 – there are only 3 of these in the game I think. Each is an alliance battle that can take up to 18 members and they replicate the 3 king ground HNMs (so 1 is a Behemoth, 1 is an Adamantoise and 1 is a Wyrm). I’ve kept a stack of Kindred seals in Storage in the hope of eventually doing one of these in the future.

I'm at 54 myself atm so hopefully they will organise another one for the not too distant future.

Capped Throwing at last. Got the final 2 levels of my skill last night in The Boyahda Tree. Probably still not going to get used massively but gives me the option of meriting Sange for ****s and giggles.

Also after Mijin Gakure(ing) back to Whitegate I literally dropped into a shout for the Evisceration WSNM. Needed this for a couple of months so gladly joined up and after a bit of a wait for a mage we got going and got the kill. Pulled my unlocked Heart Snatcher out of the mogsafe and messed around for a short while in Ifrit’s Cauldron (it was the nearest dungeon to Kazham I could think of) testing it out and got some impressive results (admittedly against Bees which are weak to piercing) with the damage for all 5 hits peaking between 800-900. My C+ rating in Daggers (230 skill compared to the 269(+16) for katana) means it has to be situational use only but I think should I be battling mobs weak to piercing where I have no accuracy issues, it would be viable to use Dagger (at least in main hand).

With Throwing and Dagger out of the way it’s time to work on Marksmanship. Again only a C rank but I can get up to Slug Shot which may be situationally viable (provided I level a RNG sub). But before I start skilling it, I’d like a better gun. But the best 2 options available for NIN are Shark Gun or Coffinmaker. I’m going to need help with either option. Shark Gun is an Imperial Standing item (and I’m around 1500 short but that won’t be a problem to get). However it’s only available at Corporal (rank 5) and I’m currently Lance Corporal (Rank 4) so need to get back on the Assault trail.

The Coffinmaker is a drop from KSNM30. It’s the gun equivalent of the 500WS point weapons (where the DMG increases when unlocked and gains Crit Hit Rate +6&#37; is added), however the gun only gains the damage (not crit rate).

I’m actually thinking Shark Gun is the most sensible option. It lacks only 1 DMG compared to an unlocked Coffinmaker (so I’d have to get 500WS points, before that Coffinmaker is worse) and I won’t have to rely on getting lucky with drops.

So if anyone feels like hitting up some Assaults soon let me know (we owe that crazy professor a trip through Leaujeum Sanctum). However, the option to do the KSNM30 is still available, if anyone feels like trying their luck for a bit of gil.
