Used to have a PAL MCD combo. Are they becoming pricey?

    Comment

      Nope, not really.

Mega CD still hold a fair price mind.

If you want one boxed and in good condition, yes. Didn't help that a certain eBay seller was bidding on a lot of the MCDs I was bidding on earlier this year, with what appeared to be the sole intention of raising the general price of the console.

A few years ago I missed out on a mint JP MD1/MCD1 combo for ?90 plus shipping, still kicking myself over that one. Makes me want a Wondermega, though.

Just to show that old habits die hard.........

Was trawling ebay one night looking at various retro bits (As you do) when I happened upon this little beauty at the lowest price i've EVER seen it. Worryingly I didn't even give it a second thought......."Buy it now"? Click. Done. I don't even own a bloody PC-FX any more, but now I want to play the game as I love it. You can see where this is going. On the plus side, the game was a bargain price and turned up in mint condition.

Over the years I think i've owned six copies of this, I sold one for DOUBLE what this cost. Yes, i'm justifying the purchase in my head!

Not so long ago I sold a boxed JPN MD1, MCD1 (with multi-BIOS), and Super 32X for ?50 each to our very own Bort. How he must laugh now.

About six weeks after that, I threw a boxed JPN MCD1 into the bin, just because it was getting on my nerves taking up space and nobody wanted to buy it for ?35.

WHAT! I would have bought that and paid shipping it still would have been cheaper than buying one here in Japan. They really are expensive here.

I would've bought it too. People on eBay probably would've paid double or triple that price.

I bought a brand new Mega CD 2 from Japan earlier this year and it was about ?130. I thought that wasn't too expensive at the time.

Mega CD 2 is pretty cheap in Japan. It seems everyone wants the classic. Even Mega Drive games are going up in price while Saturn is dropping big time.

The MD2 seems to have a much worse rep over here. Something about poor build quality or something. MD1 is certainly more popular so maybe same in Japan.

I remember that game, like a super deformed Final Fight, loved playing it back in the day.

Edit: haha, was looking at page 1.
                          Crows, Battle Action Saturn game.

The MCD1 also looks much nicer, though I do have a soft-spot for front-loaders

I actually prefer the Multi-Mega (CDX) over the Wondermega. It's half the size (thus takes up half the space) and supports RGB without modification. And you can just buy an Everdrive if you want to use a Multibios.

I actually much prefer the look of the MD2 overall. Cleaner looking with a more classic design. I find the MD1 is a bit of a mess, like a car with a halfords bodykit.

See, I always felt the MCD2 looked like a cheap portable CD player :P But again, that's probably because I prefer front-loaders, always felt they looked more stylish. I love the look of the MD1 and MCD1 together.
