Grabbed me this on ebay. Paid around 50 quid for it, which is madness considering the Playstation version goes for peanuts. Still, it's a cracking game, so I don't really mind. Been after this for a few years, and rarely appears on ebay. The Saturn version was only released in PAL regions, it was Core's last Saturn game, and presumably the print run can't of been too high given the prices it tends to fetch (and how uncommon it is for the game to appear on ebay).

My first pickups for a long time, aside from a couple of Saturn games i haven't bought anything retro since 2009 and sold off my collections last spring - a decision i've recently been regretting hence these purchases!

Lovely stuff, very jealous of the snes in particular. Is that controller on the left a PAL controller with US buttons? I'm getting confused just looking at it!

It's a great little system Neil, there's not many games but the quality of them is really high.

To be honest, as much as I want to like the NGPC I just can't. Maybe two or three good games for my tastes, and the fighters are just awful, but that could well be because i'm so used to being spoiled by AES awesomeness.

The fighters are awful? Surely they provide the greatest handheld fighting experiences to date, the digital stick is unsurpassed!

Maybe it's because i've been playing the games since the machine launched, but i really enjoy them even now. Games like Match of the Millennium and KOF R-2 are great little fighters, with lots to unlock (especially MOTM). Having a portable version of Magical Drop is great and there's a couple of decent, if not very deep, RPG's to play. SNK seemed to put a lot of effort into the Neo Geo Pocket in this country, look at the fantastic clamshell cases, it was such a pity that the whole Aruze debacle happened and basically put the nail in the coffin for the NGPC.

The only problem i find is that after being spoiled with the lovely lit screens of the DS and PSP, i find using the unlit screen a bit of a pain. keep meaning to try and get that frontlight mod done one day.

Fighters on handhelds are like having a transit van as the filling in a sandwich, it just doesn't work. Also just an opinion of course.
