(I've never played F-Zero GX, looking forward to it) All the ones pictured were only ?6 each in excellent condition, so no harm done. Thing is, I haven't told him i've got it for him yet, and i'm not sure when i'm going to! I had one of these back on release, i'd forgotten how nice they are.........

Well, played GX today for the first time. Jesus, it's a bit rapid isn't it? Quite impressive even by todays standards I thought.
Cheers for all the recommendations, but I don't want to buy too much when i'm not intending keeping it. I've bought Biohazard 4, and i'm going to have a play through of that when it gets here. It doesn't look like there's any Jap star wars games anywhere for sale, so that'll probably do me before I let my mate have it.

As I recall X seemed to record you as going to several hundred miles an hour within second but the animation made it seem as if you were driving at snail's pace. Mind you, maybe I was playing an unoptimised PAL version. I specifically remember N64 magazine praising Xtreme G for being more impressive in that regard.

Did some re-arranging on my desk and got my 'retro' monitor all wired up after the good advice received here (thanks oldgamingfart). Picture quality looks horrible in the pics, and I tried taking pics of the screen but couldn't get it to show up well at all. You'll have to take my word that the colours and all look nice and I'm real pleased with it. I've just seen the demonstration come on playing a later level as I'm typing this and it looks incredible - well worth the effort. I'll have to try some other games and plug a PS1 in though as I might need to change the geometry a bit. Can't tell at the moment as (besides the Konami logo screen) Castlevania seems to like ignoring the edges of the screen.
The eagle-eyed among you might notice the headphone socket poking out from under the desk too. I ran the audio along the wall to this "theatre system" thingy I use with my big telly, then used a 5m M to F 3.5mm stereo extension thingy out the headphone socket, back along and under the desk like so (held in place with masking tape, haha). It's not exactly elegant but it does exactly what I wanted it to. Apologies for the mess.
