Picked up an Amstrad CPC6128 with colour monitor for a fiver at a run down indoor market. Was surprised to see it going so cheap and I've never had one before so grabbed it quick and lugged it home.

It's a bit scruffy but turns on OK and all the keys work. Comes with a bunch of tapes and 3" floppy which is groovy, I've never seen anything like that before. It's a "blank" type disk so probably has some game or program on it.

Unfortunately I can't yet play anything since it has no tape deck. I can't check out what's on the floppy either as the 12v input on the front of the monitor seems to have been ripped out O.o

God knows how that happened. Looking around Amstrad sites and I think I'll start off with just getting a tape deck sorted for now, then move onto getting the floppy drive working or maybe I'll just skip it completely and look into those sd adaptors.

Haven't seen the American version of sports jam before. The cover reminds me of the old Saturn covers.

Play Sports Jam a lot. Thinks its great (save 2 far too simple for their own good, events (cycling & fast run/catch American football)

The other ten events are fab...and Varie in difficulty depending on when you take them on.

Football, corner kick...can't do...bonus points for direct hit...still can't do it, seem to control then aim...so any advice on direct shots are welcomed.

The 4/10 review on this site - a travesty...I wont even read it after that given score!

Ace work on the CPC 6128 Cepp, shame about the 12v I didnt even know the 6128 used a different variation of monitor from the 464!.

You can use an external PSU to power that disc drive if that monitor output is beyond saving.

Yeah, just been looking around and I have a few, just need to get a two way socket adaptor and I'm sorted.

I love Wardner. It was a always a game I would hunt down in old arcades.

Yep, Wardner is a true classic gem. It was slagged in the UK mags though due to it's poor graphics however the arcade looks like arse as well. Not as bad as the Mega Drive mind you.

More mint Mega Drive goodies arrived today.

My modded Nomad arrived back today:

It has a region mod and the screen has been swapped out for one taken from a cheap sat nav. The picture quality isn't as good as what you get on a modern smartphone, but it's a vast improvement on the blurry original. That AV2 icon in the top-right vanishes after a few seconds, BTW.

This is the guy who did it for me (mine is the one running Street Fighter 2):

A lot of Japanese Mega Drive games there with naff boxart. Surprising.

Are Nomad screens slanted or is that a trick of the mind?

The screen surround is slanted, yeah. In fact the top of the console itself has a slant to it.

In my last buys the Bare Knuckle 2's cover is crap but still better than Street Of Rage 2's cover. As for the others, I quite like them all.

The PAL Streets of rage 2 cover is a classic.
