Why would you want yo use an upscailer with a PC emulator? They have scan line options anyway. My Mega Drive via the XRGB3 looks no better on my HD TV than my PC connected to it running an emulator with scanlines on. In fact the PC looks even better due to it being able to output in HD direct to the TV via HDMI. I still use the Mega Drive though. Just something about real hardware.

For use on a crt tv, as far as I was Aware they don't have VGA input,:-/ well not many do,

The device from Arcade Forge doesn't upscale or downscale the signal, all it does is take the 15khz signal from the vga port on your graphics card (you have to use soft15khz on your OS or an ArcadeVGA card to get 15khz out) and allows you to plug it into the RGB scart port on your CRT TV.

Oh right. I see what you're getting at. It's pretty rare to see a nice big CRT in Japan these days unless it's in the dump. Only digital TV and almost next to no converter boxes on the market and no advertisments at all for them in the press or on TV. I forgot all about CRTs not having VGA. (Although my last one did).

Ok, I want to make it clear that i'm NOT keeping this and it'll be traded/sold soon, but thought i'd post it up a pic as you rarely (ever?) see them in the UK. Sony PSX DESR-7700 250Gb.

All I want to say is, it ended up here due to me needing to replay the original ridge racer, and it's STILL brilliant!

You wouldn't when you try to play a game and it doesn't recognise the controller. There's also issues with memory cards with certain games.

A nice piece of curio but they're not practical at all.

Prices seem to be much lower than they were before the PS3 got cheaper, they used to be around ?500 but I've seen them as low as ?200 now.

Yeah, I had one years ago but i'd forgotten how stunning they were in the flesh, lovely bit of kit!

No issues loading games or recognising controllers mind, I assume that's only with certain titles?

                      Is it region free?

Think it's top video out in S-video only

Thing is a great looking system though.

...and the first to introduce the X-media bar...i think?

They really are a nice looking bit of kit, I like the interface to them as well, sort of a beta to the PS3's xmb, the reliability of them is terrible though, you see plenty no longer powering up.

Indeed, only certain games. I know Thunder Force VI doesn't recognise controllers iirc.

The controller ports are on the back nakamura, imagine that. lol

Is S-Video is best video out really? Doesn't it have a Sony AV-Multi port?
