My RGB / region modded pc engine finally arrived.

I love how tiny everything is. I'd been waiting to play all these games for a while and now I think I've bought too many at once. I had a quick play of them all earlier.

My first impressions are Gunhed and the legendary axe games are predicably good and ordyne is much better than expected. I'd assumed it was rubbish from the cover. Bloody wolf is cool and like metal slug overhead. Heavy unit is atrocious, peach boy is unplayable and Ninjawarriors is alright but pales next to the snes version. Tiger Road is great fun but way too hard for me. I'm not sure what to make of the shubibinman games yet, part 1 seems pretty lame but 2 is cool. Which is the one people here go on about? I'm loving the music in most of them so far and to be honest it was one of my main reasons for getting a pce. I love chip music and so I'm not in a hurry to get a cd rom setup despite all the excellent games it offers.

The console looks pretty good through rgb on a 32 LCD, no worse than SNES or Megadrive. I stick it in movie mode which dulls the colours and makes it less rough looking.

I can't help thinking I'm missing out on the glorious engrish text. I might try to pick up US versions in the future. I'm also wondering if there's a back up save unit that fits the core grafx?

You could pick up a tennokoe bank 2 that plugs on to the back of the system for game saves, they can be found really cheaply.

Edit: oh, and one game for me this week, which just happens to be one of my top five PC-Engine games of all time. I wonder how many copies of this I've bought now.............

It's unfair to compare the PC Engine Ninjawarriors to the Snes one, as the latter is a remake/follow up rather than a conversion.

Yep you have to modify the shockbox slightly but it's worth it looks tidy on the shelf
