Doom 64 again, yesterday. Don't know how long I'll keep at it, got Goldeneye winging its way to me for Wii. The longer, more complicated (and frequently darker) levels can frustrate when you make a mistake at the end and must return to the beginning.

Just finished playing throught PC TR(3): The Lost Artefact. TR3 is my favourite old school Tomb Raider and the extra exclusive PC levels of the Lost Artefact are a great addition. Arguably the best set of levels in any TR game.Moved on to Xbox Deus Ex: Invisible War which I've been putting off for years but thought I'd better do in preparation for the new Deus Ex game. I've really only just started but so far I'm quite enjoying Invisible War. The graphics are poor for the Xbox and the AI weak but there's a decent backstory and more flexibility of approach than many other games of this type I've played. Initial thoughts are that if it had been a stand alone game rather than a sequel to a genuine classic it wouldn't have been given such a hard time some reviewers

Been playing Metal Slug 3 on the MVS a bit, lovely to look at, not sure if I like all the vehicle parts though - will play some of the others and give it another go.
Was trying out a PS1 this morning, stuck on Tekken 3 and got hooked on it, think I prefer this to the VF games on the Saturn I reckon.

Bit of Road Rash PS1 and Revenge of Shinobi on the MD. Really getting into Shinobi now, the waterfall level was utter toilet but love round 3 with the fence you can jump behind.

I just dug out my CD32 and found an old compilation CD I had for it, it's a dodgy one, but it has an absolute ton of excellent games on. Some include Lotus 1, stills sounds great and is still playable. Super Skidmarks, Ruff N' Tumble, Nebulus 1 & 2, Parasol Stars, Apidya etc etc. It was a superb blast from the past. I own all of those on my A500/A1200 I have too. I forgot how many CD32 games I actually own too. The Amiga has some games with cracking music too.

Under Defeat. The most fun I’ve had with a shooter in a while. I admire the evolution of the genre (even if I struggle to keep up with it) but sometimes all I want to do is destroy stuff and see how long I can survive. That's been my approach to Under Defeat so far It’s just loads of fun to play ... satisfying too (rockets + boss battles =). Some reviews say the game lacks innovation but not everything needs to revolutionise, UD is simply a brilliant old school shooter with a rather nice lick of paint. Yes, the graphics are famously stunning. I just love the dirty military look and those explosions and smoke trails. When you bring something down, especially a boss, it feels like you've roughed up something weighty. Looking forward to seeing it when my VGA Box arrives later this month.

Finally got around to completing Resident Evil: Director's Cut this week. I found the latter half of the game to be a bit of a slog, as I hate backtracking and Hunters. Going to move on to RE2 as part of my PS1 catch-up programme, after I've finished some obscure, poorly-translated JRPG that I picked up a while ago.
