ARGH! GODDAMN! I forgot the super famicom controller cable is three feet long! Jesus Christ! This is seriously annoying. Bloody cheapass japs, it was the same with the PC engine. That's it! SNES season is off!

I bought a couple of joypad extension cables from Ebay to sort this little problem out.

lol, now that you've said that, I've realised I have a pile of pal snes stuff right there on the floor. Apparently I didn't need to spend most of last night with my famicom perched precariously on the edge of my bed, and me hunched forward to meet it.

Had a great time with Super Metroid. I think I will start my save again tonight though and try to speed run it a bit. I was trying to blast through it last night, but I cocked it up a bit because I missed out a bit and couldn't figure out what I was supposed to have done.

US Wii + Club Nintendo SFC controller + VC =

I've been playing F-Zero and Secret of Mana recently and still get a fuzzy feeling when I hear the title music in both. Also been playing Super PunchOut, and for a single play fighting game it just never gets boring, even after all these years.

Planning to play through Super Metroid next (never finished it despite numerous attempts) and then either SMW or LTTP.

I still enjoy playing modern games but I always go back to the SNES and the Saturn.

I've never been a fan of racing games so haven't played F-Zero at all. I might try to find a copy and play that.

I've got a modded machine BTW - I'm assuming F-Zero is the same as Super Mario Kart and needs an actual JPN cart to run properly at 60hz?

i've got 16 days off over easter so i'll defo be playing through some SFC games, still need to finish off final fantasy 3 then i'll be moving on to something else. I need to play through super metroid again as its something i usually do every 1 -2 years...or maybe pop'n twin bee! : ).

F-Zero doesn't use any additional chips in the kart( like Mario Kart does ) .. so it will work fine at 60hz. Mario Kart uses the DS1 chip; plus it was sped up for the Pal version.

F-Zero is still a great game. I can't recommend it enough.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that modern gaming is sh*t. I've said a few times before - and I'm proud of the fact - that I play 8-bit and 16-bit games exclusively. I do not own a current gen console and find 3D gaming a bore. Apart from Starfox of course

Anyway, back on topic. I'll join you guys this easter as I'm also at uni and will have the time to devote to this beloved console. I'm currently going through a Mega-CD fad but I suppose there is room in my life for another console. The only thing is, I can literally count the number of SNES/SFC titles I own on one hand. They are:

SNES:
Mario Allstars & World
Super Mario Kart
Chrono Trigger

SFC:
Ranma 1/2: Chougi Ranbu Hen
Gradius III

I think I'll give Chrono Trigger a try once I've widened the slot. I've never played it for more than a few hours in.

I got a pirate copy of Chrono Trigger DS off the bay of fleas, but I gave it to my little sister and apparently she's been enjoying it immensely. Maybe I should finally crack out my sfc version and give it a go.

Over the coming weeks (I'm on easter break from uni) I shall be exploring all the golden oldies I can think of. I'm going to be sitting on my bed in the dim light of the evening with the crickets outside, and a super famicom controller in my hands. It's gonna be great. I think I'll start off tonight with Super Metroid, so I can get into things quickly, as it's quite short. Then I will go for an rpg I think, something light, like Link to the Past or Mario RPG. Then, who knows? Starfox, Super Mario Kart, Castlevania 4? Anyone fancy coming along for the ride of a lifetime? Forget about your Gears of F.E.A.R 7 and your Resident Duty 5: Homecoming. Throw away your Grand Theft Hatsworth Fighter IV and your Guitar Band 13: Quantum of Bollocks. Pick up that dogbone controller once again, for old times sake!

Oh, forgot to say. Recently found out that the GB version of Space Invaders actually has the Super Nintendo Space Invaders hidden away on it. No lie!

Put Space Invaders into the Super Gameboy and it will ask you if you want to Play the Super Gameboy Version or the 'Arcade' version. Select Arcade and youre off!

It's not quite April the 1st so I'll give this a try!

I thought this retro section was a Sega fanboy convention. How wrong I was.

I was playing Pilotwings today. It's spooky how well it still plays. It also still looks really nice. I was skydiving, jetpacking, flying a biplane, it was sooo much fun. The jazzy music suits the game so well - and the scoring system is nicely done. The facial expressions from the instructor still make me laugh. It's a beautiful game. The snes never stops rocking my world.

The snes has been getting some love from me recently. Magical Drop 2 and Puzzle Bobble have been keeping me busy on the puzzle front. I also usually have one RPG going at a time - at the moment it's Chrono Trigger (on the DS, but it sort of counts), and then I'm going to give Secret of Evermore a try.

I also just finished Super Metroid for the first (!) time about a month back. I loved it, more so than any of the more recent 2d metroid titles.
