Yeah Mystical ninja is superb! I want to get the sequals (JAP ONLY) but worry that the jap text might hinder the experience?

I too prefer Final Fight on the SNES to other versions I've played!! We must be a wierd lot :P

The second mystical ninja game is my favorite, it's pretty playable without needing to be able to read Japanese. (Still a bit text heavy though.)

      Just found this browsing youtube:

Never knew they made a cartoon.

I have the second "Mystical Ninja" game, and can also confirm that it doesn't really require knowledge of Japanese to appreciate it. It's far more platform based than the first game. I think I still prefer the first game, but both are top quality.

IV is playable too and a noticable step up in visuals but 'one' is still my favourite.

It looked stunning to my eyes. Definitely like having an arcade machine in your home. When I realised that there wasn't a 2-player option and the enemy count was lower, it didn't bother me too much. I mean.. the experience was still really captivating.

Another good scrolling fighter is 'Rushing Beat Run' ... A huge improvement over the first game in the series - and full of action.

It looked ok , untill it started moving and then it became clear it was pale version of the Arcade game , with only like 3 sprites on screen . MD Strider was like having a Coin Up in your Home , Contra III felt like having an f-ing awesome Arcade game in your home , FF on the Snes wasn't .
The Mega CD version was just a vast a improvement and step up over the Snes version , next you'll be saying Aladdin onthe Snes looks better

Aladdin on the SNES still looks amazing today! And is an excellent -if very easy- platformer.
The mega CD as a whole was really a pile of poo though so why even compare games on it to ones the best console ever made?!

At the time final fight on the Snes DID look amazing. What you have to remember is that the mega cd version was at least a couple of years later, and I dare say if the Snes version was remade a couple of years later, it would have had 2 player and nicer graphics.

Yep and Mickey Mouse also looked nice on the Snes, Untill you saw and played the MD versions , and then its not quite case . And yeah, I dare say for some the MD was a pile of rubbish , but there again I though that of the Jag . Still doesn't change the fact that its version of Tempest was the best imo

I take that point , but there was no scrolling beat them up on the Snes that ever came close to SOR, never mind FF onthe Mega CD , and Golden Axe on the MD , handled 2 players and more sprites on screen, and that was more or less a launch game , with the same 4 meg Cart limit

I'll agree gameplay wise that SOR 2 is king, but to say nothing came close is unfair. Final Fight 3 is pretty good, as are the two Rushing Beat/Rival Turf follow ups. If we inlcude single player games then you also have the superb Batman Returns and Undercover Cop.

*Edit* Also not forgetting the capcom conversions, Knights of the Round, King of Dragons and Captain Commando.

And Adv Of Batman & Robin onthe MD pretty much blows any of those above games out of the water , with 2 player mode as well. Single player Comix Zone looked better than most of those games . I didn't mind Rival Turf II , I will admit

Are you suggesting that any Mickey game on the Megadrive looks better than any Mickey SNES games?!? ROFL if you are mate.

Oh and Turtles in Time on SNES is far more fun and has much better graphics then SOR !!! IMO the best scrolling fighter.
Then there is Knights of the Round, King of Dragons...
...The SNES is the Daddy of 16bit

I forgot about Turtles (how could I...)! It is a great game but I'd still pick SOR2 over it personally. Having said that I'd still argue that the Snes has MORE quality beat em ups than the megadrive, even if nothing is quite as good as SOR2.

                                Have to agree, I'm afraid.

Aladdin & the Mickey Mouse games were very good on the MD both in terms of gameplay and visual/sound FX, but the SNES Aladdin & Mickey Mouse surpassed them back then and surpasses them now.

As for the SNES versions of Final Fight (discussed earlier)...I have to agree with Team Andromeda (unfortunately!), they were big let downs for me personally - the most galling thing about the SNES ports were that Capcom could EASILY have made them FAR closer to the coin-op if they'd made a bit more effort. Final Fight CD wins over the SNES versions, but it obviously had the benefit of more recent technology.
