Yeah, big relief mate! Had a good hour on it this morning again, ace. Although i'm only any use with Jae Hoon, I wish he had made it in to some of the KOF games.

To get this all back on track outside of my tech problems. Garou is still my favourite fighting game ever. I can't even begin to explain it, there's nothing about it I don't like. Maybe it's because i'm not as obsessive about fighters as some on here, or maybe it's just more suited to a more casual player, but it's just awesome. Happy days!
While it isn't my favourite fighter I do really like what I've played of it and feel it's underappreciated. Dunno why some are referring to it as too easy or simple. It's got some interesting innovative ideas, some of which are very difficult to implement.

There was a good guide to the game here

That looks like a great site, never seen it before. They've got a good KoF video guide that I've just downloaded.

Yeah Neoempire is a great site for fighting game enthusiasts. There's also all sorts of tournaments and events organized there with the biggest one next week.

did snk do any non neo geo games ? (should clarify i mean did they make any while the neo geo was still being developed years ago not recent stuff)

oh came across first ever issue of games master...reviewed was samurai shodown they really liked it

Yes they made a fair few games before the neo was developed, in fact ADK mainly developed the neo and it was based on an older board specification but they added sprite zooming etc.

Check any history of SNK documentary on youtube, I've never played any of them apart from prisoner of war, but they did a shooter called vanguard, athena, erm, a fair few games and also released a load on the NES.

I was always a bit disappointed the NEO never got an Ikari Warriors game. It must have been a fairly successful series for SNK to release 3 of them in the arcades?

I've never played one but hey they are in KOF and we had shock troopers which is awesome. Have you bought that yet?

Nope, i've been very well behaved as far as buying games is concerned, i'm not just wading in and buying everything I want for once. I'll pick up 2nd squad at some point, I prefer it over the first one.

A local shop back home had an Ikari III back in the early 90's, I remember it as being pretty cool. And the first Ikari was cooler than Commando for me.

I have fond memories of playing Ikari Warriors on the C64. Great game, and great version.

For those that are interested, there is a great Ikari Warriors feature in this months Retro Gamer, with a big section on the arcade game, a look at the follow ups, and a comparism of all the conversions.

Did Ikari III ever get a conversion to any system SC? I don't remember ever seeing it on anything?

I don't think it did. I will check the magazine tonight when I go home, or since Strider is online atm, maybe he could confirm?

I think all 3 of the Ikari games came out on the Famicom.
