Wow who ever thought PS2 modding was such a minefield
So glad I never got involved back in the day

I have a modded fatty here (don't tell Katie I called her that) that Brad kindly donated to me ages ago but I've never powered it up so have no idea what I've got in mine
Might actually have a look later

Chips arrived fairly quickly. Mine was running pal and usa games by 2001. I had FFX, MTVMG2 and Jak and Daxter all working on it.
I don't think the shop I used bothered with the swap chips. I certainly never heard of it until now.

Think I still have one of them action replays. I remember burning out my first ps2 playing FFX with it

It was one of these you needed to make the early chips work iirc

A few more titles today while out with my son. Area 88 and The Firemen for the Super Famicom. Both in great condition. And Thunder Force 6 for the PS2.

Good little game is TF6 if you ask me. Quite similar to TF5 though, not considered amazing by die hard shmups fans.

I love that Area 88...I want one soooo bad.
If you find another good quality one Mark then let me know I'd be eternally grateful

I know I've had the Pal version more times than I can remember but never owned an NTSC version on a modded console so I've only ever played a slowed down squash screened version

Now that I have a 50/60Hz CRT TV again it's time to get the old light gun classics again.
                      Starting with this lot.

Love the Virtua Cops! Might have to revisit them myself sometime

Got a few tasty treats over the weekend:

PAL Mark 2 Saturn. Fully boxed in immaculate condition from a friend in exchange for some of my R1 anime DVDs. He bought it back when he started Uni and played it a few times before leaving it at his parents house where it was forgotten. Came with official RGB lead and second official pad.

                            It came with these:

                            And this:

Gutted it doesn't work on an LCD as I have no way of actually playing it. It even has the receipt from when it was bought!!!

                            And these too:

I went and saw my parents on Sunday and my brother gave me this:

And these to go with it:

I am literally over the moon!!!

                              Literally? Blimey!

Nice haul though! Especially the mags. Sega Saturn Magazine was the last gaming magazine worth buying in my eyes (retro ones aside). I dream of one day owning a complete set.

That Saturn looks mint! Nice find, I always expect second hand stuff from back home to look like crap so it's great to see not all games look like they've spent 10 years inside a Gamestation bargain bin.
